    Default Wolfgang Stealth special?

What's up guys, I've been thinking about picking up a Stealth special and just wanted to know what you guys thought of it. Probably going to sell off the Peavey Wolf special exp and was thinking of replacing it with this. Hardtail version unless the price is very right on the floyd version. Any info and experience is appreciated!

I came pretty close to buying a scratch 'n dent hard tail Stealth at my local GC. It was set up really well and played like a dream, sounded awesome too. I'm just not a huge fan of the matte finish, so I ended up with a Tobacco Burst special that was fantastic…until I sold it a few weeks ago. I want an ebony board, but also want a figured top. So unless some new finish combos come out at NAMM, I may be saving pennies for a USA model...

Nice. See I'm the opposite, I love that matte finish. I just have yet to play one. I've heard mixed reviews of the EVH Wolfgang but I'm hoping all in all its a better guitar than the Peavey Wolf EXP (which I actually love)

Matte finish or not, it'll be a good step up from the Peavey EXP. Expect the neck to be a bit thinner, and get ready for tiny frets. The vintage frets are weird at first, but once you spend a few minutes on the guitar you get used to them and can really fly. Makes legato playing a breeze.

I do highly recommend playing the actual guitar before you buy. Because while the two I mentioned were awesome guitars, I haves played a few others (both MIJ and MIC) that were less than stellar. I took a risk on my Tobacco Burst on eBay and got a good one, but I won't buy one sight unseen again.

hey dude, almost all the evh gear is on clearance at gc. Here is the store by store clearance checker link. Just select a store, type evh in the search and viola. There are quite a few stores in my area and the evh specials are going under 600 on clearance

I had both a peavey special and the EVH special.

The EVH is light years better than the peavey.

So much so I recently sold the peavey.

depends on which special you had...I wouldnt say the EVH is light years ahead of the us made special deluxe flametop, in that case the Peavey is a way better made guitar. If you're talking about just the solid basswood special, I would say the evh looks better... If you're talking about the Peavey exp import, then yes, The EVH is the better choice

I haven't been lucky enough to play one of the EVH's- (not very abundant out here in oz) but the peavey us special I just got is phenominal! I've played plenty of top quality guitars over the years but this shits all over them! There's always a 'but' with a new guitar I think but this one didn't have one- for me at least.
I'm selling some other guitars in the hope of finding another one of these.
It's not often you pick up a guitar and everything falls into place, at least not without a some sort of tweaking. but if this is any indication I can only imagine what the newer stuff must be like...well..except for the ones with the high e that slips off the board
BTW- anyone want to buy a beat up kramer pacer with a Ibanez super 70's pickup and a slightly beat up ibanez rg270 in matt black with two emg 85s and a floyd special-heh heh!
I used to be 'sean112' but lost all my details!

    I love mine.

I had an EVH chrome Floyd and EVH style kill switch put on mine and also added an FU big brass block and "eddie'd" it all up with the strap locks etc just to make it look more like his during the tour. I gotta say, I love the ebony fingerboard, fast action and the PUPs are nice and hot too. I know mine is not a USA model but its one of the best EVH specials I have played for sure. I would not get rid of it for anything. I would NEVER trade my PV Wolfs or my EBMM EVH's for it but its a sweet axe and it plays and sounds great.

The Stealth Special is also a guitar I'd like to purchase . I'd certainly want the Floyd Rose style version . Been seeing a few of them on eBay for $750.00-800.00.

I've never played the U.S. higher end model .

Yeah the US version is out of my price range. I may go with the Floyd version, haven't decided yet.

Even the Peavey Wolfgangs I've owned (roughly 5) were Special models . Nothing wrong with that IMO . They all played well and sounded nasty - in a good way ! Haha

I'd go with a Floyd version too . Just having the whammy option is cool , not that you 'have' to use the bar , y'know ?

Good luck with the decision ...
