Default I need some guitar tech help please

I need some help. I have a Kramer Ferrington and the slot on the nut that holds the high E in place broke off so the string is way off the neck due to the headstock angle. How do I replace the nut. It's a lefty so where would I find a replacement? Thanks for your time and assistance.

This is one of those things you probably want to have done by a guitar tech at your local shop. most nuts are pretty generic, and require quite a bit of grinding, filing and tweaking to get them to fit in your guitar properly. If you just slap a nut in there, you may adversely effect the playability of your guitar.

Cool, thanks for replies. I used a heat gun and got the old nut off with a little help of an exacto knife. I'm going to consult my buddies at my local shop as well like you suggested. Do you think finding a lefty nut of that size will be hard to locate seeing that guitar is pretty old. Or do you think Stewart McDonald will have them? Thanks again and Merry Christmas Bro's!

You could just use a blank nut, and form it to whatever you needed. Now that you have the nut out, have you thought about brass?

Just saw your post. If you can't get one made, let me know. You can send me your original nut and I'll make you a replacement from bone/graphite/tusq etc.

Just let me know and I'll be glad to hep you out.

    Thanks Andrew...

As I was telling Ron today, I'd rather not make a sale and keep my online integrity than sell something and not have a repeat customer.

I can't always, logistically, diagnose or repair certain things, but if you're close or willing to ship, I'll do what I can to make it worth your while.

I enjoy the majority of the conversations and especially the new pics of everyone's gear on this site and am always willing to help if I can.

Thanks again Andrew for the kind words.
