Default Question about connecting an external cabinet

I have a question about connecting an external cabinet to a head unit. My head unit has an output jack labeled Speaker 8 - 16 ohm. The cabinet is a 2x12 and has two input jacks. 1 is labeled above the jack 8 ohm Mono Input 120W RMS and below the same jack 10 ohm Left. The other jack is labeled 10 ohm Right. So the obvious question is which jack on the cabinet to I connect to?
Also, I read somewhere (not in the manual) that you should not use a normal instrument cable. Is this true? Do I need a special cable for the connection?
Thanks in advance for any information you can share.

Use 8 ohm mono. The 10 ohm l/r are for if you want to use the cab in stereo. And you absolutely need a speaker cable to connect a head to a cab. Do not use an instrument cable!

Thanks - I did have a typo and the 1st jack label below is 16 ohm left not 10 ohm left. The other jack is 16 ohm right, not 10 ohm. I assume that does not make a difference and I should still connect to this one?
For the cable, I absolutely will get a speaker cable. It is a matter of quality or safety. I used an instrument cable for about 20 minutes last night and really hope I did not do any damage to the head or cab.

You have a cabinet with 2-16 ohm speakers
When in parallel. That makes an 8 ohm load if they had been wired in series it would be 32 ohm
So. It can handle two separate 16 ohm heads for one cab stereo or a single 8 ohm head
You do not want to use a shielded instrument cable. It could quickly overheat your head
