    The PARAMORE Thread

There's a good amount of love for this band lately, so I figured I would start a thread. They're becoming one of my favorites.

Even a little bit of news on the band's front

    http://paramore.tumblr.com/post/6898...-from-the-band

    Update from the Band

    Hello P-more family!

Lots to talk about, so little time to talk about it all!

First of all, we can’t say thank you enough to everyone who came to see us on The Self-Titled Tour. Honestly, it couldn’t have gone any better. Big shows, loads of people, new fans and old school fans! To the long-time super hardcore dedicated bunch: it’s a little nuts to think that we’ve been touring for 8 years now and you have stuck with us through thick and thin. Seeing your faces up front will never get old and your pictures from the shows were both incredibly humbling and gratifying. To those of you who’ve just discovered what it means to be a part of our family, it was amazing to see you all out there and hear you sing along to all the songs - even the deep cuts! Thank you to everybody who made that tour what it was and what it will forever be. We will most definitely see you again and hopefully sooner than later!

Some of you will see us this month on our little holiday run. All the Jingle Ball shows and radio shows… we’ve got ‘em covered. One little thing though… Maybe you already know but just in case you don’t: Jeremy and his wife, Kathryn, are getting ready to have their baby girl! We’re weeks away now. We all thought that maaaaaybe that was a little bit important and everybody told him that if he needed to bolt, we’d completely get it and we’d cheer him on from over here and swing the holiday shows without him. So he won’t be with us at these Christmas shows but now he can go ahead and be with his family in England and he and Kat can bring their little one into the world! Make sure to send Jeremy lots of love and pictures from the shows and messages for him and Kat and the 1st P-more baby. We can’t wait to meet her!

Maybe you’re wondering how the heck we’re gonna play shows without Jeremy slapping the funky funk out of his bass? Don’t worry… we took care of it. We’re psyched to let you know that for all the dates in December, our producer/friend/ridiculously talented musician, Justin Meldal-Johnsen will be joining us! So Philly, you will see him with us tonight! It’s gonna be a lot of fun and a really memorable bunch of shows. This is an exciting time for our band. Having our best friend become a dad, playing some shows with someone who really helped Paramore get to where we’re at today, and to be able to celebrate the year that we’ve had and end it only to start another great year just doing what we do. Check the tour dates on our page to see if we’re playing any holiday/radio shows near you and if we are, come hang and celebrate with us!

Speaking of next year… We’ll be releasing a brand new single along with a new video! “Ain’t It Fun” will officially be out some time in January Thanks for being patient with us. We just shot the video yesterday in our hometown and now we’re just waiting for all the editing, revisions, and approvals to start! No official release date for the single has been set and as usual, the video release will follow suit. We’ll keep you posted! This one is gonna be a good time.

Alright. See you at the show!

Hayley & Taylor (with Jeremy in spirit all the way from ol’ Blighty!!)
Here's the song they're shooting the video for. It's one of the best on the new album.

    Hayley is just talented.

"My beef is people thinking Bon Jovi is good cuz they sold lots of records to housewives." -tango

"But being number one doesn’t really mean jack fuck all. We sold twice as many records as other records that year (1984) that landed in the Number One position." ~Eddie Van Halen

    Ah, good thread.

"Daydreaming" is probably my favorite off the new album, followed closely by "Part II".

What I like about this era of the band is that it's something new and different. They incorporated new sounds and kind of fleshed out their songwriting. So now if I want to listen to some pop punk and straightforward, I'll put on Riot!, but if I want something more elaborate (maybe not the right word), I can listen to the self-titled album.

Did they/she change their sound? I remember them being a heck of a lot less poppy a few years back. I am not a fan but liked a few of their songs.

    Seems more pop.

She is talented and if she is crossing over to sell more albums...good for her

    A dedicated Paramore thread?

    It's about fucking time.

    ----
Take a listen to this GEM from the new "self-titled" record, called... Part II

listen between 2:30 and the end (especially after 3:20)

    couple of thoughts:

    1. I've never heard a modern band sound more like RUSH ever. Geddy would be proud.

    2. This could be one of the coolest passages of music recorded in 2013???

That song is amazing. One of the best. They opened the encore with that song and the part you mentioned was powerful. I love how it just end on her vocal, it's unconventional but fits perfectly.

It's called "Part II" because it was written as a sequel to this song from 2007. Starts with the same opening lyric too.

They were pop-punk years ago. Admittedly I didn't care too much for it until this new album. Then I went back and had way more respect for the old stuff.

This album was her breakthrough as a songwriter. She used to put colorful words together but could never form them in a really good melody. The songs are catchy and I have a greater appreciation for the effort, but she's done a remarkable job growing and I think she's found her voice. She's very gifted. Can't discredit her band members, though. Their guitarist went from rhythm to lead for this album and did a stellar job.

She is crossing over to pop, too. She was on a track with the EDM artist Zedd over the summer. Sounds too much like his other song "Clarity" but I really like her melody.

Two great tunes from "Brand New Eyes"....
Can't believe a 19 year old wrote and recorded these songs

    -------------------
    FEELING SORRY

We still live in the same town, well, don't we?
But I don't see you around anymore
I go to all the same places, not even a trace of you
Your days are numbered at 24

And I'm getting bored waiting 'round for you
    We're not getting any younger
And I won't look back 'cause there's no use
    It's time to move forward

I feel no sympathy, you lived inside a cave
You barely get by the rest of us are tryin'
    There's no need to apologize
I've got no time for feeling sorry

I tried not to think of what might happen
When your reality it finally cuts through
Well, as for me, I got out and I'm on the road
The worst part is that this, this could be you

You know it too, you can't run from your shame
    You're not getting any younger
Time keeps passing by but you waited awake
    It's time to roll over

I feel no sympathy, you lived inside a cave
You barely get by, the rest of us are tryin'
    There's no need to apologize
I've got no time for feeling sorry

    And all the best lies
They are told with fingers tied
So cross them tight, won't you promise me tonight?
If it's the last thing you do, you'll get out

I feel no sympathy, you lived inside a cave
You barely get by, the rest of us are tryin'
    There's no need to apologize
I've got no time for feeling sorry

I feel no sympathy, you lived inside a cave
You barely get by, the rest of us are tryin'
    There's no need to apologize
    Got no time

I've got no time for feeling sorry
I've got no time for feeling sorry

    ---------------
    BRICK BY BORING BRICK

She lives in a fairy tale
Somewhere too far for us to find
    Forgotten the taste and smell
Of a world that she's left behind
It's all about the exposure, the lens, I told her
The angles are all wrong now
She's ripping wings off of butterflies

Keep your feet on the ground
When your head's in the clouds

    Well go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
    Go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle

    Ba-da ba ba-da ba ba-da

So one day, he found her crying
Coiled up on the dirty ground
Her prince finally came to save her
And the rest she can figure out
    But it was a trick
    And the clock struck twelve
    Well make sure
To build your home brick by boring brick
Or the wolf's gonna blow it down

Keep your feet on the ground
When your head's in the clouds

    Well go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
    Go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
We'll bury the castle, bury the castle, whoa, whoa

Well you built up a world of magic
Because your real life is tragic
Yeah you built up a world of magic

    If it's not real
You can't hold it in your hand
You can't feel it with your heart
    And I won't believe it
    But if it's true
You can see it with your eyes
    Oh, even in the dark
And that's where I want to be, yeah

Go get your shovel (You'll be better off without me)
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle (ooh), bury the castle
Go get your shovel (You'll be better off without me)
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle (ooh), bury the castle

    Ba-da ba ba-da ba ba-da

Crushx3 is a real good song. It smokes

They're real good with subtlety too. A big mistake a lot of bands make is taking a somber, mellow acoustic song and giving it a climactic end to go out on a high note. Sometimes that isn't necessary, and I think they're one of the few that got it right.

It's almost like a campfire sing-along. Just a nice song.

Been seeing Brand New Eyes on vinyl lately for $40 (it was a limited release). May have to go ahead and buy it. I just bought their concert Blu Ray "The Final Riot" from 2008, but am waiting to watch it on my new TV waiting back home

Great tune From the Paramore "Singles Club", October 2011, hard to find...

Released to calm the masses after the Farro brothers debacle... One thing they have in common with Van Halen...

The Farro brothers thing was weird. Apparently Zac Farro and Hayley dated for a number of years and there was a lot of tension going into the recording of Brand New Eyes.

When they left and slammed Hayley, I actually believed the account because it seemed genuine. They did an interview with MTV where it was her and the other two band members and she owned up to a lot of things, which I thought was real mature.

These three are way too young to deal with that stuff, and it seemed like the Farro bros were a cancer in the band. They seem remarkably happy without them.

    Good points...

She dated josh I believe, not Zac...

The new record and the 3 singles club tunes prove they dont really need them

    BUT...

I hope they come back, I know Hayley is somewhat upset about the whole thing, regardless of the front she puts out

I think the original 4 are a real family

PLUS Zac's drumming cannot be duplicated and those drum parts are so underrated!!!!

    You're right, it was Josh.

And yeah, the drumming was underrated no doubt. But I can't agree in hoping they come back. I think the new album is miles ahead of their other stuff and I'd hate to see them kill their momentum and what they've built on their own.

    To each his own.

The new sound is incredible, dont get me wrong, I love it, but I kinda feel sorry for the Farro Bros, I think they regret their decision, and I also know Hayley is NOT fully happy about the whole thing... She's a good kid at heart and they were all MAJOR FRIENDS for years going back...

I really think they'll reconcile at some point

The old band had a beautiful darkness to them that's going to be hard to recreate...
