Very cool between 2:45-3:30 to see and hear Ed playing a snippet of Jeff Beck's "Led Boots" and Deep Purple's "Space Truckin'" from 4:44-5:21.

Very cool, haven't seen that before. That riff he plays at the beginning I think became As Is, but the song he's describing with that riff sounds pretty cool. Would that be a song he wrote with Gary...It ain't over till its over.

Most if not all of the footage including the interview I believe was shot by Dweezil. The first few minutes of Ed (in glasses) is from 5150 studios probably around the time of the Jason Becker benefit in late '96. The live footage also shot by Zappa on his own camcorder is listed as being from one of the 3 NY FUCK tour shows in late Oct, '91 but I believe at least the last 10 minutes is actually from 3/3/92 when Baby Animals supported VH and did play Rock n Roll with VH during the encore.

Yes, that short interview clip is from a very extensive interview that was conducted for 'The Inside' Van Halen magazine.

I had the opportunity to interview the band at 5150 just a year earlier, so I let Jon conduct most of this interview. I was on the couch next to him, and Brad was the one filming. Jon & I recorded audio of the interview for use in The Inside, and Brad recorded some video to possibly use on the band's official website.

And just in case someone in the VH camp sees this footage, just know that I sure as hell didn't leak this! I got a copy of the video from Brad, and I was told to never let it out, so I never did.

All I'll say is, thank God for his son and Janie, who seemed to rein him in from that jerky, drunken, "who give a flying fuck" vibe that he was carrying around through that period of his life. He's a whole different guy now.

Just Eddie playing a bit of guitar on the couch in '97. But in '96, Ed & Al played me tapes of early demos of what became III, and all the while they were air guitaring & air drumming. It was fun.
