    Default Doctor Who

With the 50th anniversary episode coming in two weeks, I searched around and didn't see any topics on this so I thought I would see if there are any whovians on here and what your thoughts were on the show, the new Doctor and the upcoming 50th anniversary episode.

I have only been watching the show for a year, but absolutely love it.

Peter Capaldi is a cool choice as the doctor and will be interesting to see how he plays the part. I will miss Matt Smiths doctor as much as I missed watching David Tennants departure even though it had happened 2 years prior.

The 50th anniversary episode looks awesome and may answer some questions that have been lingering for 8 years. Seeing John Hurt as the mystery doctor is interesting and seeing David Tennant back is amazing. I absolutely can't wait!!!

I watched with my ex-gf. There were some episodes I thought were really good, but they would be sprinkled in ever 3 or 4 episodes, so it wasn't enough to hold my interest.

I came in during Matt Smith's tenure, so I haven't seen any previous incarnations, though I know people love David Tennant. I have only seen Tennant in the Fright Night remake (he played the Roddy McDowell character, which in the remake is a Vegas magician not an actor).

I like Matt Smith a lot, and it would be interesting to watch the special. I may. I wish I liked the series more. I tried!

Dr Who is AMAZING! I've been watching it (or at least half-watching it, as I hid behind the sofa, with my hands over my eyes, as a kid!) for, gosh, at LEAST 30 years (without wishing to reveal my age, ahem) - and I've probably seen older episodes on video, over the years.

It's a British institution; one of our BEST exports (even better than Kit-Kat, in my opinion) - but, fourth doctor, played by Tom Baker, was undoubtedly the greatest of them all!

Here he is, in all his glory!

I loved Christopher Ecclesons 9th Doctor (the first reboot in 2005). Having him just do a single season I think added weight because time was always short.

Reboot imho does the original series a good service.

Eh it's not for everyone. I didn't like Matt's Doctor at first. Season 5 was kind of blah for me. Especially after Chris and David. But season 6 and 7...wow Matt does such a good job at playing the part as old as he does and still be youthful. It's gonna be hard to say goodbye.

I've only seen Tom in a couple of episodes. Never gone back and watched the old series.

I agree. Chris was "my doctor" and now with everything that's gone on since he left story wise you can appreciate how good of a job he really did playing the part. He was troubled by what preceded him yet stayed fun. Wish he was in the 50th.

Trouble is that they'd inevitably look dated and silly now, with all our current technological and special effects wizardry. But, let me tell you, at the time they were released, those episodes were TERRIFYING! And, like I say, Tom was unequivocally the best doctor of them all. I remember being absolutely gutted when he 'regenerated' after 7 years in the role...

Yeah I'm another who gre up with Tom as the Doctor. Lost interest after he went

I have enjoyed the rebooted series but I do have to be in the right mood for it. Only about half way through Matt smiths first season at the moment, just watch them at my leisure.
A little zen....... Headed your way.......

Yup, he's the Doctor I grew up with, and will always be my favorite. I liked Sylvester McCoy (7th Doctor), as well. I enjoy the new series, but liked Tennant's Doctor the best so far. I liked the darkness he brought.

I'm still on Eccleston's incarnation because I'm catching up on so many other shows too, but I love Doctor Who and very happy I'll be home to see the anniversary special.

That's Billie Piper, former teen pop-star.

Her breakthrough moment was the release of her first single, at age 15 - "Because We Want To"...I hate to do this, as it might put you off a wee bit, but I think I owe it to you...
