Default Best "breakdowns" in Van Halen songs

This song has one of their all-time best beginning at the 1:42 mark ...

"It's so lonely at the top because it's so crowded at the bottom" - Diamond David Lee Roth

"If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you"

"Be careful what you wish for because you just might lose what you already have"

"Women and Children First ... The REAL Van Halen III"

Bottoms Up, Mean Street, I don't know if the little tapping harmonics in Dance the Night Away is a breakdown or a solo.

As Is and House of Pain are the two that immediately jump into my brain. Runaround is another favorite.

    Great thread idea.

    THIS:

In case you're feeling lazy & don't want to play this... play it! This is "Romeo Delight" with an exceptionally insane breakdown!

Of course no one will say Everybody Wants Some because radio hits get no love around here, but come on, it's got it all......the heavy drum beat, Ed's in-your-face power chords, the classic lines by Dave, and the explosive build up of the band coming out of the breakdown. It's such pure Van Halen at their best. To that point (1980), I don't believe there had been a breakdown quite like it from anyone.

VH with Dave ('78-'84) - The best years....the "real" VH.
VH with Sam ('86-'96) - Incredible era....."We have renamed this town 'New Halen!'.
VH with Gary ('98) - Fucking disaster. WTF was that??
VH with Wolf/Dave ('12-'15) - Amazing comeback. Smokin' album and tours.

That's a great one. I simply went off the top of my head. It's hard to ignore that.

I wouldn't say that EWS even has a breakdown. I know what you mean but essentially every verse is the breakdown riff/beat.

There were a few moments where I just smirked and nodded, as if to say, "Oh my God, this is so awesome." That was one of them. The song just smokes through and that part came out of nowhere. And it fit so nicely.

Still probably my favorite track on ADKOT, to be honest
