    Default Peavey 5150 combo settings

Long story short, I lost the settings I was using with my Peavey 5150 combo. I thought I had them written down, but I can't find the paper. Now I'm looking for a tone with a Lead Post of 3 or higher, which sounds good recorded. I've tried the ones at The Wolfgang Registry, but they are nothing like what I had going.

Does anyone have one of these amps, stock, who wouldn't mind sharing their settings? Ideally this will be used with a Les Paul guitar, although I also have a Peavey Wolfgang Special, Charvel SoCal, and others.

I use this one quite a bit (although I may have gotten these from the registry so I'm not sure if you've already tried it). Kind of a take on the Balance tone. It has the Lead Post setting at 7 but I don't play anywhere near that loud and set it on around 2 or 3. I play these settings frequently with the stock 212 combo and a '97 Wolfgang standard.

Thanks, I'll try those. I had ignored that one at the Registry because the Lead was set to 7, but I'll try it at 3-4, and see what I get.

They worked out, I've got the post right before 4 & it's a nice sound. Thanks again.

No problem. I know how hard it is to record with the combo. Some of those setting are difficult to record with the post so high. You might just be trying to record in the basement but the post is set so high that it's loud enough for a whole club!

Well the settings sounded amazing and cut right through playing with a drummer tonight. Came out good recorded, too, although there is bleed-through on the other tracks (small space we're talking here.)

Do you find the original 5150's to have real honky mids with the dial up? I see a lot of people including Ed of course set them real low but yet seem to cut fine.

Yeah they can get honky. But the 5150 has more mids at "3" then other amps do.
