Default D-Tuna Issue on PV Wolfie Korean HELP

    Hi.

I just bought a used Peavey Wolfgang EXP and I'm having an issue I've not encountered before with the D-tuna.

When I have everything all set up and and the low E string is tuned to D, as soon as I push the D-tuna in to fine tune to E, all other strings go out of tune.

Everything on the tremolo is tight and the tremolo springs are so tight, I can barely use the tremolo at all.

Any suggestions or experience in this issue?

You said everything was tight. So the nut is tight. The intonation screws are tight? The bridge isn't floating? That's what it sounds like. The bridge isn't flush against the body. Loosen the strings and check the neck. Make sure the screws are tight. Doubt it's that though. I say it's the bridge isn't flush. Take a peak. My PV Pat. Pending Archtop Wolf, the bridge was too high on the treble/high E side and it moved when I broke a string and went out of tune. I had to look at it and pull up on the whammy bar at the same time to see it. And it was such a small amount of movement. But the bridge wasn't touching on the treble side. Only on the bass low E side. I'll bet that's your problem.

    Hi AFU.

If you mean the backside of the tremolo being flush / flat on the body, yes it is that too. I checked everything you mentioned.

That's why I am so stumped.

Have you checked the screws that hold the baseplate to the block?
Also make sure the saddle block (part that holds the string) allan bolts are tight.

I've had a similar problem where it turned out the baseplate was bent.
Are the posts seated and not moving- particularly the low e one?

Ya. All is good and solid. Even took the tremolo aprt and made sure all was straight, tight and solid.

Something has to be catching or slipping-
Have you got the tremolo springs set so tight there pulling the trem crooked?

Maybe it's the nut. Strings could be sliding around. Do you have another guitar with a floyd to switch out the nut to try that? Nut also could be loose. I have heard of that happening, but I think string pressure would keep it in place. Use new strings and don't over tighten the locking nut. It flattens the strings and they slide around causing tuning problems. But that's with trem use, not just the d-tuna. Maybe the previous owner did something to the nut. Like widen it for bass strings. Anything is possible!

Check the thru the neck bolts on the base of the butt. If a thread is sticking thru it will not allow the nut to clamp properly. This will cause it to go out of tune every Tim.
