The best answer is MA back on bass -- and Wolfgang on guitar, playing mostly rhythm and a little lead here and there. Advantages --

    1. popular with the fans
    2. gives the band more flexibility (ed can play keys)
    3. even better bgv's
    4. ed gets what he desires in playing with Wolfgang

If they were to ever bring Mike back for a swan song, I see no point in having Wolfgang up there on guitar. He needs to be with Tremonti if that happens.

VH has done ok for thirty years with one guitar player.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

The 2004 Van Hagar reunion tour Wolf was onstage for a few songs on guitar. Verizon Center DC.

He came on stage at OKC too. Pretty neat since that was my first concert with my son.

Correct, but he wasn't a member of the band or a part of most shows. He was a nice little "aw" moment.

The scenario presented was him as a fifth member as a rhythm guitarist, and I just don't see the point in that.

They have done very well for 30 years. But with two greatest hits tours with DLR under their belt, there's really no where to go now. As much as I have loved it tour after tour, Ed is playing the same thing tour after tour. Adding Wolf on guitar I think would give something unique, an added point of interest to mix it up some. Just think what could be done live. Do we really need another "solo" that is essentially the same bit that's been played live since 5150?

Plus, Ed could play live keys, etc. I guess I feel like they've done all they can do now. We all wanted the holy grail, DLR back with the band. We've seen two whole tours. Great stuff . . . but do we need another of the same thing?

It was classy of Mike to say.

I am curious about hearing what Wolfgang thinks of Mike's playing. So far i've never heard him say anything about it.

Mikey is the man. I'll take his bass and vocals over Wolfgang's all day, everyday. Sorry, Wolf, it's just not your band no matter your last name.
