    Default Sammyfest

I was thinking- Sammy has made repeated comments about wanting to be part of outdoor festivals and his disappointment for not being included.

Why doesn't he do one himself? Sammy and Friends. Sorta along his current touring lines, but beefed up. The lineup would include:

    Denny Carmassi
    Bill Church (do some Montrose)
    Red Hot Chili Peppers
    Michael Anthony
Joe Satriani (do up some Chickenfoot)
    Aaron Hagar
    The Wabos
    Heart
    John Bonham's LZ Experience.

You may think John Bonham is the odd man out, but I saw them with Heart this summer and they were phenominal! Throw some Sammy in the mix and who knows what you could come up with.

Sam could float amongst the different bands, singing here and there.

Everyone listed has been part of some hugely successful concerts and I think together they'd make an incredible show.

    I like the idea.
Back in 2006 or so, in Chicago, I saw Sammy with .38 Special, Journey, and Eric Johnson. It was Journey with not the singer they have now and not Steve Perry. The other guy...and he was okay. Sammy seemed to like being the headliner, and had Eric Johnson play Finish What You Started...Eric's take on the song was really interesting, and I wish I had a copy of it.

Moving forward, I'm shocked Sammy hasn't tried to produce a music fest, a la Ozzy. Maybe they aren't big money makers in the end? Or else he would have already?

I wouldn't mind seeing a very diverse line-up...love the Red Hot Chili Peppers idea..of course, they would be headlining.

I know it's crazy...but the more years Ed tacks on of sobriety, maybe the better the chance? Because, I think this would be awesome:

    Extreme
Sammy solo (opens with about 4 songs)
Chickenfoot (plays about 6 songs, including Highway Star, which melts the faces off of all attendees)
Van Hagar (with Sam, Mike, Alex, and Ed - playing about 8 songs)
Van Halen (with Dave and Wolfie - play about 8 songs)

    Encore:
Top of the World, Jump, Aint' Talkin' Bout Love (with everybody on stage, including Gary, Nuno, Satch, and Chad Smith on a standup drum or something)

    I have the chills.

Since this is a fantasy game, I will one up you. Replace the Sammy solo set with a short Montrose set - Sammy, Carmassi, Church,.....and Eddie Fucking Van Halen on the gee-tar!

I like the idea as well. I just don't see Chilli fans being into Sam or any other bands listed.

I love the idea of a Redfest.

    Aaron Hagar
    Rival Sons
    Joe Satriani
    Red Hot Chilis
Sammy's Four Decades of Rock set with the inclusion of Chickenfoot
Encore: Zepplin's Rock n' Roll in a jam session

Sammy would have to open for the Chilis and it would be called pepperfest.

Well Red Hot Chili Peppers would have to close cause they're bigger then all those acts. Would be kind of stupid to have the Chili's close RedFest when it's Sammy's festival. Plus they stand to make a hell of a lot more money on their own tour over touring with a festival.

But the others I could see going along with it.

The consensus is that Sammy would have to open for the RHCP at his own festival, so let's drop them and add Dave to the line up in support of his new greatest hits album. Here's the new order.

    DLR--30 min.
    Aaron Hagar--30 min.
    Rival Sons--45 min
    Satch--45 min.
Sammy's Four Decades of Rock w/Chickenfoot--2 1/2 hours

Btw, I was watching Journey on Palladia with the newest singer, and in the middle of "Wheels in the Sky," Neal Schon plays the riff from HSAS's "My Home Town"

It was at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheater in Tinley Park. EJ opened for him; it was Loopfest. He came out for FWYS and it was BADASS.
