    Guard Rail Radar Gun

If a tree falls in the forest does it make a sound? If a radar gun is placed in a guard rail on an interstate highway is it fair to motorist? No itís not fair but is it legal? It sure is.

Coming soon to an interstate highway or other major traffic bearing road near you. The permanent speed camera and radar gun. These units tuck nicely into the guard rail along a long stretch of highway, and if youíre traveling above the posted speed in the words of Food Network, you are toast.

Actually this unit that you see pictured here is not like the Red Flex cameras that are currently in use in Acadiana. These are radar guns, much like the hand held devices you see State Troopers use on the Basin Bridge. These radar guns relay data, including a picture of the offending vehicle to a waiting patrol unit down the road a mile or two.

Is your radar detector useless against this stealthy approach to nailing speeders? You can count on about the same amount of warning as you get against the hand held guns. The hidden radar guns are activated by a motion sensor several hundred feet ahead of the gun. If you happen to be traveling alone you might get popped. If you are trailing a pack of cars that trip the system you might get an advanced warning of the possible speed trap.

The best advice we can offer, travel the posted speed, leave earlier so you donít have to rush and just freaking relax. Life is too short to have to worry about paying speeding fines that you really donít need to get.

why do people get all indignant about their rights to break the law?

"sure I broke the law, but it's unfair that I got caught because you had superior technology to identify me"

try using that good old fashion technology of the speedometer and you're on the right side of the law...speed limits are not guidelines, if they were they would be called "guidelines" not "limits"

making the choice to speed comes with it's own repercussions and penalties

Very Orwellian... police state coming right up. This is fucked up on so many levels I dont even know where to start but I will say this, at least there is a supposed "officer" waiting a mile or 2 down the road to ticket you instead of just getting a fucking pile of tickets in the mailbox saying "you been doing a lot of speeding on route 9". The citizens need to rise up against this kind of bullshit.

Not going to happen. To many people who just don't give a shit about anything. The rest are working too hard just to exist. Now if you take away the NFL,NBA,MLB and NHL you will have a riot on your hands.

Governments are broke. They have to make money some way I suppose.

And I'm sure these new devices are really inexpensive (lol)

Anyway I guess it's better than raising property taxes every year.

And Daisy, in the U.S. speeding and finding tax loop holes is considered a sport, all that has really happened is the Government has stepped their game up a bit. Surely there are others in Goose Poop Ohio that have similar views.

Speeding on a Highway is really not much of a crime, notice speeding, not RECKLESS driving.

I don't have a problem using devices such as this to prevent reckless crime but come on. We are talking about speeding? If they are wanting to go to such lengths to line their coffers, then lets do this.

Have the cars CPU regulate the maximum speed allowed by downloading every speed zone in the country into it. That way when you are driving on Route XYZ, in such and such zone, your car can only go 35mph. There. If you tamper with it, you get thrown in jail.

There. No more speeding tickets. No more cops wasting tax payers dollars by not preventing crime. Forces could be reduced to only cops who deter or solve crimes. Cities can start working on ways to improve the city instead of finding ways of collecting money.

I realize that driving is not a right so I am ok with this.
