Default Jeff Fiorentino - EVH style

Don't know if You know about this guy, but I think he is way too cool. I mean, listen to some of his van halenized instrumentals. The best thing is that he has his music for free!

I am rather weak guitarist, so it would be nice to hear opinions from advanced guitar players. What You think?

I have purchased a number of his DVDs and he really does a great job of explaining the important things you need to learn to play the music rather than simply play it note for note. I found these also cleared up quite a few questions about approach and theory. His own versions are creative.

I'm glad Jeff is still at it. He's great.

Another guy to check out for Van Halen lessons is Doug Steele.

He will take you through the song note for note and he's funny as hell.

I loved his covers and song instructions he did back in the day before some legal crap got in the way. Still have a few videos he did of unchained and others.

Doug is great! Some of his stuf is a little off though. Sometimes he just straight up tells ya Eddy plays something like this, which is fine. Other times he's a little off. On Fire solo springs to mind. He plays it like I used to play it. Or should say tried. I still haven't mastered it. His demos of EVH amps and guitars rock!

For learning VH riffs and songs he was the BEST. I discovered his website back in 2004 when he'd put out 30 min videos on how to play VH songs and they were CORRECT (or at least pretty darn close). All for FREE.

VH/Warner Bros lawyers made him remove all the lessons after about 2 yrs though. Fortunately I saved about 20 of em and have them on a hard drive. Up for Breakfast is one of em. Seventh Seal. Don't Tell Me. The lessons were simple and very thorough. And he pretty much did lessons for every entire album, if I remember correctly.

And he seems like a good guy too. I remember going back and forth through email with him back in the day about swapping out pickups and how to do it.
