    Default Sammy in Chicago

Sorry, I didn't see a specific thread about the show.

First, I met Sammy. I can't go into how, and we had to pretend that we were part of the scene, so no pics. He was a great guy, as expected.

The setlist was expected. I was not disappointed. The couple of new tunes even sounded better than what I heard on the tonight show. The highlight for me had to be You're Love is Driving Me Crazy..I know this is a softy, pop tune, but live, they tore that shit up. Vic was a wild man, very crunchy and heavy all night...and Lauser was on fire on the drums. Sammy sounded great...he's so consistent. It's amazing. He seemed to be in a really good mood. I think he likes playing in the midwest a lot. Lots of support...and a very lively crowd.

I was impressed with the sound. I was fourth row center, and I was feeling it in my chest, which was awesome.

My only disappointment was no Chickenfoot tunes, which I expected...I get it, it's a separate venture for him. I just though a second encore with Mikey with O Yeah, Future in the Past, or My Kinda Girl would have really capped off the night nicely.

    3.75 out of 4 stars.

Glad to hear you had a good time, and that Sam and the band were on. I've seen Sam more then any other musician, and I never fail to have a good time. It might be a midwest thing, as that's where I'm originally from, and where I've seen him the most. I'd pay good money to see the Montrose reunion with Dave Meniketti.

Sammy was on Chicago TV and asked about the VH reunion. He broke out the "inevitable" thing...With all of their ages, I'm not so sure it's inevitable...I wouldn't even say it's probably. Let's go with a really, really weak maybe.

Again, he was asked about it, so it's not his fault. He went with the line that he is really proud of his work in the band. I like it...good, classy way to talk about it.

Saw him last weekend in Spokane. Loved the show. Really enjoyed Eagles Fly with the full band. They really rocked it.

I'm actually surprised they didn't do any Chickenfoot with Mike joining them in Chicago. What was the encore? We only got Eagles Fly. As I mentioned they rocked it but would have been nice to have at least another song.

encore was Eagles Fly, but he played a new one before it...For the life of me, I can't remember...he said this is a protest song. It was kind of cool...he poured his heart into it.

I agree extreme red roth!! The venue was great, and the crowd was into the show. To tell you the truth, I think it was the tightest I ever heard Sam and the Wabos. When Bro put on the headphones for the keyboard songs I knew they were serious!! For years I was worn out of the party vibe and the looseness of the band. The sound at this venue was SOOOO damn good. I was 8th row center..

I missed Sam in the D last night (well actually he was in Clarkston which is about an hour out of the D), I didn't feel all that well last night and I had a pretty hard time getting any of my buddies to go (we've all seen Sam a ton of times). Kind of bummed out but I'm SURE he'll be back around.

I actually think the setlists I've seen have been kind of boring. I mean I'm a hardcore kind of a fan and I geeked out when I saw him rehearsing Love or Money, I'd love to actually see him perform This Planets on Fire but probably 80% of the people at the show would have no idea what song that was.

The VH songs he's playing are kind of boring to me.....I know what he's doing and why he's doing it but they just do nothing for me. I loved it when he did good enough a few years back and summer nights...even if it was just the first part of the song.

eh, just ranting a bit I guess.

Bad, I'm guessing you are referring to the show at DTE which I believe was in support of the “Living It Up” album. They did the whole set of the “Other Half” and it was friggin’ awesome.

By the way, Sammy played guitar for the concert about 75% of the time. That was fun to see. I'm telling you, the WABOS (and Mikey) sounded straight ahead, hard, and thumping. No people on stage, no fight for your right to party vibe...just awesome, blistering rock. Really really good. fine - 3.85 stars
