    Default 2012-2013 tour over..now what?

another 4 years would put us at 2017

    will it be that long?

it would be sad because they sound brilliant as a unit right now.

hopefully they really alter their setlist. it's my only complaint. 07-08 set was preferable to me over the last one...

Really?! You'd take Atomic Punk and Little Dreamer over Girl Gone Bad, HAIL, Full Bug?

Won't include So This Is Love and LG from 07/08 because they belong in every VH setlist as far as Im concerned.

atomic punk is a killer tune and under appreciated imo. little guitars is groovey along with so this is love.

HAIL is one of my favorite vh songs, no complaint there. but pretty woman can go. so can china town and tattoo. i wish full bug was played more. would like to hear i'm the one and on fire.

if you look at both sets, they left a lot of the order of the songs the same or similar in terms of sequence or place in the set.

i don't get playing beautiful girls near the end of the set. kills the momentum imo. for my taste the set in 07-08 flowed better.

Oh I love Atomic Punk. Great tune. Great in a live setting. I just couldn't put that above any of the "deep" cuts they added for the last tour.

On Fire would be my wish list tune for the next tour. Don't think Dave could pull it off unless he really really changed his delivery on the tune.

And I agree totally about BG. Love that they added it in 07. But that and Pretty Woman could be taken out and I wouldn't bat an eye.

DTNA , YRGM & Pretty Woman should go.
Think it's time for them to hit the studio as Dave mentioned in a interview they planned to at end of June.

Hopefully they go into the studio and come out with a release in 2014 with a tour to follow.

Not to be a dick, but I will never understand how people can say that they didn't like this tour's setlist. It doesn't even make sense.

It was their most diverse...ever! Any era! And '07-'08 was the same stuff every night, except for "Crossroad Blues" and "Mississippi Queen" every now and then.

But this tour: shitloads of new rarities played (seven, to be exact), they even brought back some from the previous tour every now and then, songs were moved around from time to time--the only complaint would be lack of ADKOT songs. THAT, however, I could see. Play more new ones, play some of those deep cuts, save the other deep cuts for another tour that they're not touring behind a new album.

It especially blows my mind when people in the U.S. complain about their Japan/Australia setlists. What do you care?! Japan hasn't seen VH with Dave since the '70s and Australia never has. I'm sure they're grateful for whatever.

    Jeez, what do you want?

calm down, skippy. i get they added in and switched some songs here and there. i'm talking about the basic day in and day out set.

was it neat they added in a bunch of deep cuts at random shows? absolutely! would it have been better if they kept said deep cuts on constant rotation in the list? to me, yes because i love those songs. in other words, if you can follow, they play so much of the same material, granted they have only 7 albums to pull from. then again, they have plenty of material.

these guys more than meet my standards, believe me. i'm a huge fan. if they did a casino tour starting tomorrow i'd be there. my only complaint, if that's what you want to call it, is i would prefer a different kind of setlist. no pun intended.

so if my preference for what i would like to see doesn't fit your needs, tough titty. that's my experience through my eyes and how i see their setlist.

please don't preach to me about gratitude.

    anyway..

YRGM was their first hit, so I can see playing that.

They play Pretty Woman for the casual fans there, so I get that.

DTNA doesn't usually sound good anymore, so they can ditch that IMHO, and the four songs they regularly play off of ADKOT are just the wrong songs.

Tattoo needs to go, so does China Town and The Trouble With Never Turning Off My Wah. She's the Woman is great, and it's ok live.

Jump, they have to play it, I understand, still sick of it. Just wish they would rotate the deep cuts, have maybe four spots out of their 25 song setlist in which they rotate in and out songs like GGB, Full Bug, Hang'em High, Little Guitars, etc. for the die hard fans.

And to nit pick, Little Guitars should be in EVERY setlist. One of the ultimate VH songs in my humble opinion.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

As a fan since 1978 I hope they just do a few shows now and then Vegas,NYC,LA,etc until they get too old to perform. Somewhere easy to fly or drive to. It's been a great ride.

After the past year of hoping they would reschedule the second leg of the tour, I've given up trying to predict what will happen next in VH land. I saw messages on one board last summer saying the dates would be rescheduled last fall and then I saw messages on VHND facebook page saying they would make up the dates this spring. At this point, I would think maybe possibly work on another album or EP of songs and get back out on the road in 2014. Again, who knows though.

The Van Halens always seem to be jamming and stuff in the studio. I'd bet that since the cancellation of last summer's shows that Eddie still worked on ideas while recovering from being sick. I have a feeling in my gut that the next album is further along than we may think and VH will be back on the road by next summer.

I'm sure Wolfie will stay busy with Tremonti during the down time. Not sure if he is still seeing the same girl, but it wouldn't surprise me if he gets engaged.
Eddie may eventually get on stage with LL Cool J. Thought that might happen last week in Paso Robles as I heard from 2 different security guards working our section that they heard a rumor of a special guest being there. Perhaps the MTV awards is a place that could happen as it seems most appropriate given the demographic?
Alex will hide somewhere while Dave takes a long trip somewhere, perhaps back to Japan.

I put Little Guitars in my mix of 3 hours of songs for my wedding last month and now my 13 year old son says that is his favorite song and loaded it to his Ipod and plays the shit out of it.
He also likes that Fall Out Boy song that goes "light em up up up I'm on fire", which the on fire part sounds very similar to VH's "On Fire" so I played that again for him and his new step brother and said "this is rock and roll, that that crap". They agreed that VH's was better.
