Default Batman To Meet Superman in Man Of Steel Sequel

Interesting, but will New York be called Metropolis or Gotham City? Perhaps just plain New York?

Great news... hope it really happens. Note to producers - we can all do just fine without any more origin telling. Just get to the ass kicking for a change please.

Imagine if Bale has just been lying to the press this entire time about moving on from Bruce Wayne/Batman....and he shows up at the end of the movie or in an after credit scene.

I pity the person who is sitting in front of me in the theatre if that happens......their hair will be a whole nother' level of Something About Mary fucked up.

People are looking at Bale as THE only Batman now the same way others only see Reeve as THE only Superman. That sucks. Get your favorites on Blu-ray and sit in your own little world as the rest of us move on.

This isn't aimed at you Mitch, but at comments I've read around the web about this possible World's Finest news.

I understand your view totally. Hell, before 2005 I thought Keaton was THE Batman and even more so, I thought Jack was THE Joker.

I was proved horribly wrong in both cases. I'm not saying that nobody can take over the role and make it their own. Not at all.

It will just be one of the most daunting tasks any actor has had to face in the last 10-15 years of film.. Bale and Nolan nailed everything. Personally, I don't see what different direction an actor could take the role without somehow copying Bales take on the character. His final (and best) portrayal as Wayne/Bat will only be 3 years old when the next Supe flick comes out. It's still very fresh. Remember Bale had the luxury of following Batman and Robin and Batman Forever. BB came 7 years after and people wanted a new take on the role.

From the first second I saw Bale on screen in BB. I saw Bruce Wayne. Didn't even get that feeling the first time I saw Burton's Batman. Keaton was a good Batman but he didn't instantly have me invested in him being Bruce Wayne. Bale accomplished that, to me, in his first scene as Wayne and in his first scene as Bat.

But this brings up a good discussion. Possible actors we'd think could pull it off?

I think Lovitt is totally wrong for the role. He just doesn't command the screen physically and emotionally like Bale does IMO. Probably why I wasn't as enamoured with the ending of TDKR as most people.

I think Bradley Cooper could make for a good Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Liam Hemsworth possibly although I don't think his acting chops are nearly close to where they need to be to re image the character.

Any other names you'd like to see in this role?

I'm in the minority I know, but I liked Michael Keaton more than Bale. I think people had a hard time with him at first because he really was at the time mostly a comedic actor. In fact his best two movie besides Batman probably are comedies.

I agree. Can't see that at all. Unless I'm mistaken and you meant...

Odd choice, but it might work. I could totally get into that.

The only thing that's stopping me from calling this a HUGE mistake is the fact that Goyer and Nolan are involved.

Man Of Steel pulled in the big numbers DC/WB needed. They can totally concentrate now on the next Big Blue Boy Scout flick and also find a competent replacement to wear the cowl* without blowing an entire Batman film budget in the long run. It should be a win win all around if it's done with respect.

I think a lot of people misunderstood the ending of TDKR. My take was that the message was anybody could be [a] Batman as long as they did something to help others. Put others before themselves to make a change happen.

Even though Blake was given the keys to the Bat Cave at the end, it never meant he would be the next Batman, but he was given the tools and had the attitude and conviction needed to carry on the work that the Batman represented. Does that make sense?

Gordon: [To Batman] I never cared who you were...

    Batman: And you were right.

Gordon: ...but shouldn't the people know the hero who saved them?

Batman: A hero can be anyone. Even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boys shoulders to let him know the world hadn't ended.

Could never take Keaton seriously as Batman, not because he was a comedic actor, just that it's a stretch imagining him kicking anyone's ass. When I look at any of the movies prior to Nolan's now, they themselves look like comedies.

Different strokes, but the newer Batman films are just leaps and bounds beyond all comparatively campy takes in the past.

Haven't seen Man of Steel yet, and while I agree with origin story burn-out, think it looks like a great take on it from the clips I've seen. If they match the tone of the latest films from both these franchises, it could be awesome.
