Default Looking for Feedback - P90 Dog Ear Pickups

Hey...gonna upgrade my Epiphone Riviera P93 Custom, a three-pickup guitar. Basically, I'm looking for a modern, brighter, higher-output sound. I want to be able to play blues, pop, rock, R&B, and hard rock with this particular guitar. The stock pickups are too muddy for me.

    Here's some questions:
    1. Any of you have any recommendations for P90 Dog Ear Pickups? I'm leaning toward Vintage Vibes P90's, but am open to any feedback from fellow guitar players.
    2. Pots...any thoughts on replacing these? I just learned today about different pots (I'm not stupid, but I'm not savvy on "guitar guts"...I've pretty much been a purchase-ready-to-play guy) and I think I might want to replace these. Recommendations?

They're not "modern" voiced, but I LOVE the Klein 60's wind P90s I have in a custom mahogany Telecaster I built. Plenty of output and super versatile. They'd easily cover the genres you listed.

I don't remember what value pots I used...but if you want brighter use 500k. If you want to tame the high end a but use 250k. Or split the difference with 330k.

Here's the Tele mine are in. Made out of a mahogany tree that stood in the yard of my wife's childhood home!

In all my Google searching, I never came across Kleins. Thanks, Jedi. I'm gonna look those up.

I have a Fender Jim Adkins Telecaster with a Seymour Duncan P90/P90-3 combo, the latter being a higher output vintage voiced take on the pickup. I really like them, plenty of grunt from the bridge, smooth and flutey at the neck. It covers everything from classic rock to blues to country to jazz. The only thing it won't really do is high gain stuff, which is what you'd expect. I'd say the P90-3 is more open and less mid-focused than the P90 in my Gibson LP Junior.

    Hope that helps.

Well, I bought the Vintage Vibes pickups and just got the guitar back from my guitar guy. This guitar now officially SMOKES! These pickups are amazing! I love them! They are P90 with Alnico V magnets (he also sent me some Alnico III if I wanted to swap out for a more mellow tone). Good call on the V's, because these pickups are pretty hot as is.

The guys at the shop I went to were really impressed with the pickups, too. One of them makes his own pickups and he was really impressed with the ones I had installed.

I'm telling ya, folks: VINTAGE VIBE PICKUPS KICK ASS!
