One guy ( Dr. Love) nailed it down in an extra long esssay:

If Van Halen and Dave can't work things out, and they both admit to it, then I'm fine with it. I'll still be a Van Halen supporter. If Van Halen decided to ditch Dave last July, and then let us believe all this for this many months, I feel very, VERY betrayed. My thread on the latest events just points out a few truths: Van Halen as a commercial unit will not viably be productive without the support of its fanbase. At this point, if it is revealed that they have been knowingly letting us get our hopes up, then I believe there will be a mass exodus of fans. And I will be one of them. I will not support a band that lies to me. Van Halen is no better than I am. I'm not going to let them walk on me, I'm sorry. It's just not right.

Read the whole essay at http://www.van-halen.com/newsite/ubb.../010322-2.html

It doesen´t look too good for Ed, Al and Mike

They lost their reputation in a rush
and still "NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS"

I dont think its fair to spit the dummy until VH has their chance to reply

Daves comments were positive and open ended. Nothing he said really means the demise of a reunion, more an enthusiasm to pick it back up and get it back on track

Heres hoping the VH's can do the right thing by their fans

Well, when you take MA's and Ed's NAMM video comments into account, I certainly feel led on.

I'm very much in the 'fuck Van Halen' frame of mind at the moment.

Fair enough too, I just wanna see what they have to say for themselves.

BTW I've always felt Eds NAMM comments were entirely related to guitar products, not the band themselves
.

Mikes got me stuffed though

Whatever it is, they'd best do it soon. They seem to be quite out of touch with their fans, and that is not healthy thing for a band that is literally on the ropes.

The silence was all well and good when they knowingly allowed us to assume that they were actively working or planning to work with DLR. Now that that has been shown not to be the case... the silence was irresponsible and disrespectful, particularly in light of the cryptic comments that were made.

I'd say that if this one don't elicit some comment from 5150 then nothing will. Somebody please put us out of our misery here...

...on a totally unfounded conjecture tip though. Has Ed been sat on his ass for the last 10 months then, or are we looking at Singer #4, Sammy back, or multiple vocalists now?
It'll all end in beers...

What people are overlooking is the fact that Dweezil and Michael both lied. That's insane.

I don't think anyone's overlooking anything right now, cause nobody really knows what the truth is at this point. As usual there's lots of speculation based on a 20 second conversation.

I totally agree with MikeL, and the post at PD. If this is all one big let on and DLR does infact end up not being the singer, Then I will go on listening to all my old VH and fuck what ever the rest may be.

This little game of theirs has gone on long enough. We are all tired and bored with this.

What did the band lead us on to?

They never, not once, said DLR was in the band.

Why should they take the time to announce they aren't working with DLR when they never were to begin with? It makes no sense. The only thing that betrayed you was your expectations as you took rumors to be true.

Keep an open mind, people. That's all we can do.

Of course they led us on. They've let the DLR rumors fester and grow, never saying a contrary word. Ed and Mike deepend and encouraged the rumors with their statements revolving around NAMM. Either they are complete dolts, or they intentionally led us on.

Let's agree to call a spade a spade.

True, but not admitting it doesn't mean it didn't happen. Dave confirmed yesterday what we all knew.

Yes, but the rumors *were* true. The band did work with Roth, and they need to admit this and move on.
