Absolutely. My little Marshall 15 watt practice amp. It had an effects knob and I gotta tell you...... It gets the brownest Eddie sound I have ever heard out of a little practice amp. People keep asking me every time I post a vid what amp I'm using and when I tell them it's the Marshall 15 watt they can't believe it.
Best little practice amp I ever had. I use that more than my 5150 and it even has a line in for plugging in your iPod and jamming. I would recommend it to anyone no matter the level.

I love Blackstar amps, so my first suggestion would be the HT-5C or HT-5R (which is essentially the same combo, but now has reverb).

Yeah Blackstars are a little pricier than I want to spend.

The Marshall Slash 5w 1x12" looks pretty cool.

While I admittedly do love Line6 stuff...

I own a Vox AC4TV8. It's the 8" speaker version of the AC4TV. I got that because of the built-in attenuator that drops it down to 1/10 (yes, one TENTH) of a watt.

I swapped out the stock tubes for some JJs after a bit of experimentation. When I did it I posted over at Harmony-Central. I'll quote that post for ya.

Well, I got the tubes and today I finally got time to test them out. As you guys know, I got the JJ EL84, the TAD EL84-STR, the EH 12AX7, and the JJ ECC803S. I ordered the 12AX7s tested for higher gain output. I tested the amp with my Skye and Franky, both of which you can see details of in my sig. So, I tried all the combos in my AC4TV8 and came to these conclusions. Of course, this is with my particular assortment of tubes, so things may vary a bit.

TAD EL84-STR + EH 12AX7: Strangely, it was slightly farty sounding. It was gainy, fat, and had a lot of midrange and bass, but seemed choppy when it was turned all the way up. It was odd. This was the only combo that did this.
TAD EL84-STR + JJ ECC803S: Turned the AC4TV8 into a little metal monster. It wasn't super-duper high gain but the tone itself had a good midrange cut. Put a clean booster in front of the amp and you could seriously play some scary heavy metal.
JJ EL84 + EH 12AX7: Gainy and saturated with a good amount of bass. However, I felt that this combo was a little dead sounding. Don't get me wrong, it sounded pretty good, but I think I was spoiled by the next combo.
JJ EL84 + JJ EC803S: This is the combo I went with. It has a little less gain than the JJ EL84 and EH 12AX7 combo, but GOD DAMN this is a sweet tone. It's less bassy, so the low strings sound more defined. It's doing something in the midrange that's really sweet and lively. It kinda just elicits a smile when I play with this combo. I heard the ECC803S was a different beast than the ECC83S and I believe it just might be.
Since my sig over there no longer contains the details of the guitars that I mentioned, the guitars I tested it with are my Sonic Blue Tex Mex Tele Special with an AllParts TMO-FAT neck, '52RI bridge plate with brass saddles, and a Van Zandt Vintage Plus bridge pickup. My Franky is a Fernandes LE-2 body (basswood) that I striped up, a Gotoh Floyd, a Duncan '59 Trembucker, and a CustomWoods (Scott Smith) 5150 neck.

The AC4TV8 seems to be discontinued, but you could probably find one used.

The AC4TV with the 10" speaker is still available, though.

I had a Vox VT15 for a while. Great little modeler that's perfect for the bedroom. It's sort of a digital/tube combo in reality, but the sound (to me anyway) was all tube. Should be able to pick one up used for less than $100. Here's a Sammy-wannabe testing it out.

I was going to suggest a Fender Champ from the 70's.. I picked one up cheap and sounds perfect with a few pedals..

Get a modelling amp and decorate it with cardboard tubes. Best of both worlds.
