    Default Eruption 2; Fireworks-Jan. 79 wow!!!

Just came across this on YouTube last night. Wow, this is very technical playing, very cool indeed. The poster is Yessup Music Co. and in the about section, it is written in Dutch. Never heard of this track before. There is also a post from this same poster of 1984 solo out takes, some I have never heard. This is definitely Ed, can tell by the phrasing and attack, but some of these licks I don't think we have heard on tape or live. Very cool post....monster chops indeed.

Not really sure how anyone can think this is Eddie playing, but it's not bad.
If you have nothing nice to say about Eddie Van Halen, you're at the right website. - Me (A few years ago)

"People take Van Halen much more seriously than we do" - David Lee Roth (1980's)

"I don't sit on the end of your bed while you're trying to make a living" - David Lee Roth (1988)

"For some reason people love to complain about everything. The internet has made it easy for people to do that. Shut the fuck up and get a life, or show me how good you can do it."- Edward Van Halen

"A lot of people ask me which Van Halen singer was better. You can't compare them. It's like asking which guitarist is better. Nobody is better than anybody. Every player is their own person."-Edward Van Halen

It does have some VERY "Ed" moments, but it could well be a mid-80s EVH influenced shredder, also. The poster's other uploads do lend him some added credibility, though...

Is this related to a similar clip that was posted here years ago? At that time it was said to be a "new" Eruption that Ed recorded in 1984 for a radio station (IIRC). I ask because I recall that clip had a droning kinda background sound going on, much like this one, although it was higher quality and less technical.

Yeah, this "Eruption 2" solo is definitely not Eddie!

And his "VAN HALEN UNRELEASED GUITAR TRACKS - SOLO OUTTAKES & DEMO FROM 1984 ALBUM" isn't Eddie either.

His "1980 RARE SOUNDBOARD" is actually a 1978 audience recording. Yet his description says, "1980 WCF Tour, 3/25/80 Great Falls, Montana (Four Seasons Arena). There is a lack of material from this tour so I thought I'd share. I transferred this from a tape reel to digital from an old soundboard recording (there are a few "hiccups" in there), but I cleaned it the best I could. Enjoy!!!"

I hate it when people upload stuff and lie about what it is.

I would have believed it if it was titled "Yngwie learning Van Halen in 1979"

Doesn't sound like Eddie's tone. More like a Yngwie's. Don't think its a Les Paul but a strat.

I posted a message on the Youtube comment page saying it wasn't EVH. My post was deleted. Then, Jeff from VHND posted the same thing etc.. Our posts were deleted and I just now tried to post again and I am blocked. The uploader is a dick trying to gain whatever by posting stuff that isn't EVH.

I love Ed, but he's honestly one of the most imitable guitarists in history. I'm not trying to underplay his talent or writing ability, but I've seen more people accurately sound like EVH than any other guitarist. And that's not necessarily a bad thing, just an observation.

Most of us know that what you said is true. However, when someone knowingly uploads vidoes/audio on YouTube (which is HUGE) that are NOT EVH and the "owner" prohibits people from speaking the truth, that is bullshit. I wonder if that asshole posts on here.

Often imitadted never duplicated! your absolutley right. I dont think there is a another player or sound that is as sought after as Ed's, in my bias opinion anyway.
It's always a Catch-22 situation. They hate you if you're the same, and they hate you if you're different.
