Street Named in Fontana for Sam

So my mother grew up in Fontana, CA in the mid 50's and early 60's. My grandfather moved our family from New York to So Cal after he bought a lumber yard and hardware store (technically my uncle was already here, he was attending USC which was one reason they came). Anyway, my mom went to school and knew Velma Hagar, Sam's older sister, they were in the same class. It was a small town back then, so everyone really knew everyone. She did not know Sammy personally though, he was a few years younger, and not really my mom's crowd. Oddly enough though she has become pretty good friends with Velma over the years with seeing each other at reunions, etc. and they keep in touch. So on her Facebook page my mom noticed that they just named a street in Fontana Hagar Way, and that Sam was there for the naming. Thought I'd share, probably not something we'll ever hear about otherwise.

Cool story. Now all the guys over at the Army know the real reason why you're such a huge Sammy fan.

HAHA my mom never even put 2 and 2 together until like 20 years ago. I never even knew any of this until YEARS after Sam was in the band.

I wonder what the speed limit is there on Fontana Hagar Way.

Van Halen Ln, Stockton, San Joaquin, California 95212, United States.

Try plugging that into google maps. All the surrounding streets are named after rock stars, too. Jagger Ln, Hendrix Dr, Ozzy Ct. Lol.

Very nice story Brett. I am surprised there wasn't more press about it, at least something on Sammy's site.

However, if you read the Fontana Herald, you have heard about this!

    See the video at:

Kid Rock duet on the new Sammy record? Hmmm.

I bet when your mom lived there, the place looked better than it does now.

I can't believe they ever lived there to begin with. There's like two Jews in the whole town...haha. My grandparents moved to the Valley in the late 60s to be close to my parents and my aunt and uncle who already lived there.

I think Sam posted about this on his FB page a couple of weeks back but I might be wrong. I know he posted about a parade in Fontanna and he was to be the grand marshal but I can't remember anything about the street naming.

living by detroit I'm kind of tempted to look at pics of the area, it CAN'T be any worst than the D

So, it's not a big deal, but I'm a bit confused...

Is his next album a "Sammy and Friends" type project or The forty years in rock type project.

"Sammy and Friends", like Kid Rock...that doesn't equate to what I thought what the album was supposed to be about..

Two Montrose sounding songs, two Van Halen sounding songs, two Chickenfoot sounding songs, two solo sounding songs...two HSAS sounding songs, etc.

Kid Rock, while a solid entertainer...doesn't really fit into that mold.

I'm excitied for new music either way, but there seems to be a lot of 1/2 truths to this next project, if not a lot of mixed signals.

Anyone know what's this album really is?

    Thanks!

Fontana or San Bernardino in July or August... man, talk about a furnace!

    Cool story Brett.
For a while I was convinced Sammy was Jewish. Samuel Hagar...
Hagar sounded like a possible hebrew name from Israel. And then he named his first son Aaron. I was discerning a definite trend in the lead singer position in VH!
