Default Purple Rainbow - The Blackmore Thread

Was reading thru some of the love over in the DIO thread and thought it would be cool to have a thread for the Blackmore bands and offshoots such as Impelliteri (Graham Bonnet) and Joe Lynn.

One of the greatest Blackmore performances right here (and the one that hooked me when I was 11) featuring the great Cozy Powell.

    Bought this record first though.....

    Classic mini-movie.

Great thread LL. Just think of Blackmore as a tree and everyone that has played with him as branches. Then branches off of those branches. One bad ass tree!

Final Vinyl is one of my most played Rainbow cd's, just love all the different era's.

Here is a link to the live show from the Straight Between The Eyes tour in 1982.

Burn in 1995 with the less known era of Rainbow.

Rumour was Blackmore fired Graham Bonnett for being too drunk and having a wardrobe malfunction that flashed the audience at Donnington in 1980. They did some good stuff together on that Down To Earth album, which was recently remastered and expanded to include a live cd from that show.

Here is Alcatrazz. Graham Bonnett with Blackmore's doppleganger.

Nice thread top LL. I saw Rainbow back in 1982 and I think Pat Travers was their opener - might be the other way around but it was a great show. I just remember them playing a sound clip from the Wizard of Oz where Dorothy says they must be over the rainbow. Way kewl show. Never get tired of Blackmore.

Next to VH Rainbow is number 2 with me with any singer. Dio was my personal favorite. Cozzy was the best so sad he checked out at about 130 mph on the freeway in London. This band was pure fucking talent. I saw them many times.

" Since You've Been Gone " is now being used on the soundtrack and in the commercial for Adam Sandler's new movie," Grown-up's Two ".
