Default Floating in a most peculiar way’: Astronaut Chris Hadfield sings David Bowie from spa

LONDON – International Space Station Commander Chris Hadfield isn’t content with being a real-life astronaut floating 230 miles above earth. The David Bowie fan is now a singing space man.

His performance of Bowie’s iconic song "Space Oddity" from the International Space Station has been watched more than 530,000 times since it was posted on YouTube on Sunday.

“And I'm floating in a most peculiar way,” he sings in the recording.

Hadfield, who is already a Twitter sensation with more than 800,000 followers, has posted incredible pictures of the world from space, including of Africa and war-torn Syria. He has also explained how to brush your teeth, shave and clip your nails while weightless.

On Sunday, Hadfield, the first Canadian to lead the international outpost, turned the station over to Russian cosmonaut Pavel Vinogradov.

He, fellow astronaut Tom Marshburn and cosmonaut Roman Romanenko have been aboard the station since December, and are scheduled to depart on Monday.

The $100 billion station, which flies about 250 miles above Earth, is a research laboratory for biomedical, physics, astronomical and other experiments, as well as for technology development and demonstrations.

I just watched a segment on BBC News about this chap - and they showed him doing the Bowie number, amongst other things. He's filmed some really extraordinary stuff, including amazing images of Planet Earth. However, I think the bit of footage I found particularly fascinating was that of him crying - instead of trickling down one's face, the tears collect in a ball on the surface of the eye - very odd!
