    Default Pedal board help

When playing bass at a certain location, they have a house sound system, and when I try to play through my bass pedal board, no sound, but when I direct plug no problem.

    Any idea why?

I thought at first my pedal board was blown out, but when I play at home on my normal Fender amp, no problems.

Here is my gear, very simple, never had problems with it before. I have only been playing bass for a few years, so I am still a noob when it comes to gear, and especially gear problems.

    Any help is appreciated.

I'll try to help, but can you elaborate more on the signal path, both what you use at home, and what you use when you have the problem?

You stated that when you direct plug, there is no problem.

I'm assuming you mean that you are going from your bass, to the pedal board, to an amp and it doesn't work, but when you plug directly into the amp, it works.

I'll have to ask some questions to help isolate the problem.

-When you are at the place, does your ME-50B light up normally, or does it appear that it is not even being powered up? -OR- Does everything appear as normal, and you just get no output?

-Are you using all of your normal cables? Could be a bad cable, or an intermittent one.

-Are you using your own amp at this place, or are you using their bass amp?

Oh yeah, one other thing I almost forgot. I was setting up my ME-70 one time, plugged everything in and I had nothing. No output at all. My pedal was all lit up, amp was on, and nothing.

Immediate panic set in, as all of the possibilities ran through my head of everything that could have blown up on my amp. I plugged into my amp directly, and I had good sound. Immediately plugged back through my pedal, made sure I was plugged into all the right jacks, and even swapped out my cables to make sure it wasn't them. Still no output to my amp.

I was looking at my pedal, completely baffled when I saw it. The fucking expression pedal was pulled all the way back. The expression pedal acts as a volume pedal when it is not "on". I felt like such a dumb-ass. I literally freaked out for about 5 minutes before I realized I was stupid.

    1) Yes, it light up normally, and it is receiving input, as the tuner works.

    2) I am using my cables, and they fine when used elsewhere

    3) No, I am using their amp before going into the house system, they have a pretty elaborate setup (from my experience), it goes to a bass amp, then to a huge sub woofer they have, and the volume/mix is controlled by a little glass room they have up high in the back of the audience.

    4) Yeah, I played with the expression pedal as well, just to make sure. I pretty much tweaked everything trying to get it to work.

I don't know man. I'm at a loss. the only thing I can think of is that maybe the pedal is boosting the signal too hot on the input, and the input has a limiter that cuts off the signal to protect the circuit in the amp. Other than that, I don't know.

You know what, I just treated like you do your home computer when it doesn't work, and last night it was fine.

I just set all the settings to zero, plugged in and started from scratch on my settings, and now it works.

Have no explanation as to why it didn't work two times in a row and it worked last night, but whatever gremlins were in the system are now fixed.

Turned out I had a problem with the wah pedal on my board. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, but when I am not using the wah (because I use it so much on bass - outside of For Whom the Bell Tolls I never use it) it is for volume, and it was sometimes just getting locked into the "off" position. So for more money than the board is probably worth it is now fixed.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

Hey, DD...I know you settled this one already, but which plug(s) are you as your output? I have a Boss GT-10 for my guitar rig and I always use the phones output rather than the normal output (L/mono or stereo). Also, I know that I have to go into the settings and select my output.

    Just curious.
