    Default Roth 1986 Live Jump

Funny, not sure Roth sings Jump that much different than he did almost 30 years ago. Still pushing where he didn't need to. I saw this tour and it was awesome...

I go back and forth on Roth playing the VH songs back then. It was good hearing songs like ATBL, Unchained and On Fire.

But not so good other times, ESPECIALLY when DLR started adding large amounts of backing keyboards on songs that didn't need it.

I think we have covered it a million times, but Vai (who is fuckin great) just doesn't seem right on several VH songs in 86-88.

Still some fun shows (86-88), got to see a few. Also have plenty of video and audio bootlegs.

I think the Dave actually got closer to the original VH sound when he brought in Bart Walsh and later Brian Young (late 90s-early 00s) on guitar.

What Vai-era Roth stuff was pro-shot at the time, anyone know? I've seen snippets from Japan I believe, the oldies-cover tunes he was doing.

A Skyscraper pro-shot release would be phenomenal.

1988 Toronto has a pro shot. Haven't seen it, Skyscraper Tour.

I know at the very least one '86 show was filmed. I've got an old interview from Rockline (I think) with the whole EEAS band and a listener phones in and asks if they plan on releasing a home video of the tour and Roth said they actually filmed a show the week before. Hopefully, one day he'll release it. A video of either of his first 2 tours would be awesome.

It's pretty obvious Steve Vai and Eddie's playing styles are quite different from one another.
