Default Roll Call - Stone Fest

    Hi All,

List here (or wherever the mods think is appropriate to'file' this thread)

Daughter Crystal and her 1st VH concert - (Dad currently 'brainwashing' with VH classic 7 pack) and I .

    Hoping for a great show.

    Cheers

    It's 5150 time AGAIN!
From the opening sound...akin to a WWII bomber rolling overhead... through to 26 1/2 years later there has been barely a misstep by the man who (to use a cliche) redefined the way the guitar was to be played and the incredible sounds it could make. For all new chapters beyond this point it is all cherries and cream.
My Van Halen shows - 17/4/98 .......and April 20th 2013 ANZ Olympic Stadium Sydney - Stone Music Festival
(and still envious of every other attendee of a 'World Tour' that wasn't a WORLD TOUR!!!)

Feb 18 2013 - "Yesss!!! - They're coming to Australia" My reaction to seeing the headline on VHND. Wife's reaction (rolling her eyes) "I wish he would get so animated about our anniversary today!!"

April 20th 2013 ANZ Olympic Stadium Sydney - Stone Music Festival
    Gate M Section 127 Row 45 Seat 3 & 4
90 minutes of AWESOME rock'n'roll. Loved every minute of it.

    I'll be there!

Heh, I see you're from Geelong. My '80s rock cover band had a residency there for the better part of a year. I used to play my Frankenstrat pretty regularly, and through our time there we did Eruption, Jump, Panama, Why Can't This Be Love, Just Like Paradise, and we once started a set with an instrumental teaser of HFT.

So what band and venue? I haven't been a great patron of the local scene (by a long shot) but have checked out a few over the years. Barwon Club is my favourite along with (sadly now closed) the National Hotel.
Frankenstrat heh. What base brand/model? I must say if I'd been within earshot of ANYBODY playing VH my ears would have pricked up, head snapped around and I would have 'hunted' down the source. Can't get enough of VH no matter who/what & where it comes from .
Hoping that all us Linkers will meet up before the gates open (probably at The Brewery under Novotel) on Saturday. See you all there.

We played at the Sphinx, which I think is technically North Geelong. The band's name is Glam Slam. We probably did 10 or 12 shows there. We had a decent following out that way for a while!

Oh man, I'd have to check which parts it was made of. I bought it from a US Linker, IRRC. Used it for the VH tribute bands I was in and liked it so much that it became my #1 axe for Glam Slam, teaching, etc.

We're three days away! Can't wait!
