    Default Gary Clark Jr.

This dude is incredible. Another "fresh" guitarist on the blues scene, like Bonamassa. His first major label album came out last October called Blak and Blu, and it's incredible. The man can play with the best of them, and he's only 28 years old!

He's not as blistering as Joe B. but he is cut more from the Hendrix/Chuck Berry mould from what Im hearing and seeing. More down/dirty and less sharp/precise.

Which is definitely not a bad thing.

    Stellar find, bud.

Just searched my email. I bought his EP in September of 2011 on iTunes. I tend to enjoy the singer/songwriter types nowadays. His LP is pretty good. He's not a brilliant virtuoso, but he's very interesting. Definite thumbs up from me.

Blak N Blu is one of my favorite albums of 2012.

Oh yeah. My comparison came from the idea that he's a NextGen blues player ushering in the genre to a younger group of people, like Bonamassa. They're very different players but their goals are similar, at least based on their sound.

He is defenitely the real deal. I have Blak and Blue and there are some great tracks on there.

He's got some pretty good fans too. Eric Clapton told Rolling Stone this about Gary Clark Jr.:

“When I first saw Purple Rain, it had been a while since anything beautiful had taken place. After seeing Prince, I thought, ‘Everything’s going to be OK for a while.’ With Gary Clark Jr., it’s the same thing.”
