    Default Hagar's Halen Hopes

    http://www.classicrockmagazine.com/n...talk-to-eddie/

Former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar is ready to reopen communications with Eddie Van Halen – even regarding the possibility of working together again.

But he’d also want bassist Michael Anthony involved in proceedings.

Asked what he’d say to Van Halen if they met today, Hagar tells Vegas Rocks: “I’d say: ‘Wow – great! You look like you’re healthy. I’m really proud of you and I’d like to see you continuing doing that. Here’s my phone number. Call me up if you want to hang, and just have some fun and goof off.’

“I wouldn’t say, ‘Hey, let’s get together and do it again,’ because you would have to do that slow. I’d never do it again under the last circumstances. But I would do it again under different circumstances.

“Then I would also say, ‘Here’s Mikey’s phone number with mine!’”

Van Halen fans were divided over Anthony’s departure and replacement with Eddie’s then-teenage son Wolfgang. Hagar – who formed supergroup Chickenfoot with Anthony – has previously said that’s the part of the drama he’s always been most upset about.

Even original and current frontman David Lee Roth recently admitted he’d love to see the bassist back in the band.

In the same interview Hagar, asked what he’d do if it was his last day on Earth, says: “I’d go to the grocery store and cook myself the greatest meal. I’d take out the 20,000 bottles of wine I have and I’d have with it. Then I’d take my wife upstairs and have sex. I might even, one last time, take a few hits from a joint or maybe do some coke – just say, ‘fuck it!’”

Love Sammy. But maybe it's just me, I always find it weird when he talks about stuff like this while having 4 kids. The kids look up to him, what is he gonna tell them if they start developing a coke habit?

Their father is Sammy Hagar. They KNOW better than anybody else that Sam is Sam and not even his kids will put a muzzle on him. They know the deal. A little coke and wine to go out in style seems fitting for a guy like Sam and I would do the same.

I'd like it if Eddie could patch things up with Mike and Sammy simply so they could restore the rest of the history of the band. While I'm grateful that Eddie is healthy and strong again, its still very silly that the band has yet to acknowledge a massive chunk of their career containing four platinum albums.

I reckon it would be pointless to point out that Sally asked him what he would say to Eddie if he could. He didn't bring it up, the interviewer asked.

Yeah, I figured it would be pointless.

It'd be great if Ed could mend his friendship with both Sam & Mike.
I'd love to see Mike rejoin the band, they just aren't as good without him.
It might be cool if Sammy made a guest appearance with the band occassionally to sing a song or two from his era, but that would be unlikely as I can't see Dave being ok with it.
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

It shouldn't surprise you. Did they not ignore the Dave era for all that time? All six of those albums went platinum too. Frankly, I don't think they give a shit.

I'm right there with ya, Sam. For all of the awesomeness of ADKOT and the tour I'd still give anything to see the Van Hagar tunes live again now that Ed is on top of his game.

I think I have a better chance of joining Van Halen than Sammy getting back in.... You cant blame him for wanting to though...

This will definitely be the last incarnation of Van Halen...
