With a year's worth of Japanese lessons under Dave's belt, why didn't they make a Japanese ADKOT?

    Boggles the mind,

    You're kidding right?

That's a lot of work, you know that as well an anybody. Took DLR forever to cut the vocal tracks for ADKOT, and those were in English. Even if they did do it, probably would still sound like shit in all likelihood. English and Japanese don't match up well, it wouldn't be as easy to synchronize the vocal melody as it would be with say DLR doing it in French.

Also, this is Van Halen we are talking about. Return on investment. DLR spending months in a studio to cut vocal takes for an album ten thousand people will buy?

    Not a chance.

Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

haha... well "Dave's Dreidel", I was half kidding.
And yeah, I do know what it would take as I have done it myself.
But Dave does seem to have this interesting Japanese passion right now.

He has been studying every day since last May... and has now done a few radio shows (with a translator mind you).

I agree the economic aspect might not be worth it, but Dave isn't usually motivated by such things.

I would like to add that I'm not sure if this latest aspect of Japanese subtitles on 2 songs and the interviews is really going to do much either because Dave's humor and lyrics are not simple sentences... they are filled with American cultural references that would be lost on most Japanese. (Much like his Japanese radio shows

Perhaps the balance here would be a single.

The POLICE did with "De Do Do Do, de Da Da Da" ... in Japanese years ago, with mixed results... so it's not impossible.

"Tattoo" might be the way to go... although there is a slightly old stigma with tattoos and the yakuza.

Still, I'm interested to see what kind of effect all this Japanese living has on Dave.

I know we're unlikely to see something happen like Sonrisa Salvaje... but he has done this type of thing before... so why not suggest "ADKOT日本語"??
