I have this on old VHS video tape as well. Including the other songs from that episode --Amsterdam and 1/2 of Can't Stop Loving You.

But Aftershock was the best. Everyone sounds so tight. Ed is so smooth and effortless in his transitions. And Al is a freaking BEAST on this track.

Sounds better live than the record. Not many bands can do that.

Until the end of the song I thought the audience was dead. I was relieved that they cheered pretty enthusiastically at the end....the band was nailing it.

I have always said it.... Eds sound was FREAKIN AMAZING on Balance. I loved his tone, big majestic guitar crunch he got back then. Some people dont dig the eventide harmonized, processed sound Ed had back then but its one of my absolute favorite Ed guitar tones through the years. Check out the Amsterdam and Cant stop loving you tunes they did this same night on the Jon Stewart show. I have all three on dvd. Amazing.... great post

Yeah that was pretty massive. Mostly because the most underrated drummer in rock is riding it like a Tijuana hooker.

I love Balance, but I thought the show I saw had zero energy. Sounded great, but it was more like a recital than a rock concert.

180 degree shift from the previous tours.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Ed couldn't move because of his hip so that kind of killed any real band energy a lot of nights. I think Sam struggled with his voice too on this tour which zapped some of the energy as well.

Agreed I loved his tone on this album. It's also still the best sonic sounding VH album.

Been on a huge Van Hagar kick lately. I bet I've listened to Balance 20 times the past two weeks. Did twice today actually. That guitar sound and Ed's playing is just fucking awesome. Such great songs on it.
