Default DLR on Joe Rogan podcast

Just saw Joe Rogan tweet about having Dave on his podcast today, didn't get to check it out and I think it started around 6 eastern over at ustream.tv/joerogan. He usually archives these, so check it out!

Uh ... can someone nutshell this one? It clocks in at nearly three hours. I made it a half-hour in before clicking off. To me, it sounds like two guys bullshitting over random topics.

    a few interesting points:

*Lots of info on Dave's life in Tokyo.
*Lots of candid talk about the rock and roll life style.
*Dave talks about being a DJ
    *The changing music business
    *The Dave and Nirvana Rumor.
*A great story about Alex and Dave in small claims court with a Catholic school. (my personal favorite story.)

There is one long rant about mixed martial arts fighting near the end which I mostly skipped through... where dave was asking most of the questions.. but it gets on track after that.

    Hope that helps.

    I enjoyed it.

    Cheers,

Not directly, but there are were lot of peripheral stories which I found interesting.

As I mentioned my favorite part was the story about the VH gig at a California Catholic school which DLR and AVH had to take to small claims court in order to get paid.

One more topic I forgot to mention was Dave telling about an amusing phone conversation he had with AVH about the cultural differences between US audiences and Japanese audience (ie; The very different rise and fall of the crowd noise... and went to interrupt.)

It's all a stream of conscious conversation, but there are some gems within.

Guys, seriously, most podcasts aren't interviews. They are just two people talking about wherever the conversation takes them. There might be questions asked, but it's more of a shootin' the shit sort of thing.

I've heard plenty of different formats in Podcast-land. I'm a producer of podcasts myself and some are more rigid to format than others.

Dave seems to prefer a more free-flowing conversation, much like what got him into trouble when he took over for Howard Stern.

I find it interesting that he jumped into doing podcasts the moment he returns to the US after the 10 or so (perhaps not consecutive) months in Tokyo. I think he's just happy to talk to people at normal speed without having to filter his vocabulary. ('',)b

Sounds like Dave is on hiatus from the band until the announced dates. Even on Carolla's show he only said, "I think we got some shows coming up, yeah."

That's really it. Plenty of talk about VH past. Nothing present or future.

Well, I'd say the fact that he's done the last 2 Podcasts from "within biking distance" of the rest of the band for the first time in months says something. (̃͡ x ̃͡)y-~~

I'm listening to the podcast in the background and at the 52 minute mark, he mentions that he just talked to Alex on the phone, before the show, talking about Japan and the upcoming gigs there.

VH did some big advertising on Carolla's podcast for ADKOT. You guys heard the live reads; he was doing those for the album. Wouldn't surprise me if there was some Roth influence there and now he's making the rounds to some of the more popular ones.
