DOA and Bottoms Up on the 78 tour!

Had no idea they did that. Pretty cool.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

    Thanks for posting this man!

    I know there's a soundboard of a 1979 show out there.
Been trying to find it for years.
    Might be Denver or something.
Anyone know what show im talking about?

Nice! I just stumbled across this one from Manchester on that same tour. No Bottoms Up, but DOA is there.

    Okay.

If anybody has any doubt that Ed is the best guitar player in the last 50 years.

Just skip to the solo from that show and that should erase any doubt you or anybody else is having.

There should be a fuckin disclaimer that rolls across the screen when his solo starts that says, "This track is NOT sped up."

    Yes.

Use this to convert it from youtube to mp3:

    http://www.youtube-mp3.org/

Once it's converted you download it to your computer as an mp3. Then just add it to your iTunes library and burn to a CD.

All the old traders here at vhlinks, @ jamtothis and @ vhtrading have this on flac (then covert to wav for cd). It should still be posted at all the major bit torrent sites for download (dimeadozen, thetradersden, jamtothis).

Just for info I will post the full descriptions and track listings for the 78 UK shows. This is from when we all got them from the TAPE transfers almost 10 years ago.

It was discovered that these were recorded with stage mics, so they really aren't true "Soundboards". Fucking great regardless what you want to call them.

There is no 1979 "soundboard" show out there in trade circles.

Best 1979 show in trade circulation is the "A" Audience recording of Fresno 3/25/1979. This show is sometimes mistakenly thought of as a soundboard.

BTW... Van Halen didn't play Denver on the 1979 Tour. Closest they got was Boulder, CO on April 21 & 22.

Maybe it was a different show or tour you were thinking of?

My bad. I thought I was posting this response in the "Aftershock 1995" thread. D'oh!

This won't work on the full 1978 show because the vid is too long.

For some reason, it seems that many great sounding audience-recorded boots (and stage-recorded, like those Europe '78 recordings) are often erroneously mistaken for soundboards. I bet that if you searched for "Van Halen soundboard" on youtube, at least half the results wouldn't be actual soundboards.

I guess if it doesn't sound like absolute shit, some people assume it's a soundboard!

Thanks DD, that link only allows 20 minute conversions. I'll take a stab at the bit torrent sites.

    Appreciate the help.
