I'd rather listen to MTM over OU812 or FUCK all day any day. But to me it doesn't touch 5150 or Balance.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

5150 was Sammy's shining moment.....A great singer at the top of his game vocally and songwriting....and a big reason he currently resides in the RRHOF...IMHO of course....(I could make the argument that it was Ed's as well but that could possibly derail this thread )

After 5150 you can rank them anyway you want with his time in Chickenfoot, Montrose and VH in the top 10.

5150 is definitely his shining moment as a singer. Sam at the top of his game.

Wow, HSAS isn't even mentioned in the same breath as Hagar's solo or Van Halen albums in this thread. That's shocking to me. It's in his Top 10, at least.

Whiter Shade Of Pale is one of Sam's best performances. My favorite cover of that song.

5150, Dreams, Best Of Both Worlds, Mine All Mine, and When It's Love are Sam's absolute crowning achievements and nothing in his solo career comes close IMO. Ed is a pimp for having the talent to bring out the best in whoever is by his side.

I picked it for #10. Through the Fire is a great album. I haven't listened to it in ages. Maybe if I had listened to it more recently, I would have listed it a little higher. Of the album's nine tracks, there isn't a dud on there.

Of all the albums from that time and genre (early 80s AOR), it's one of the most overlooked. I'm not much of a Journey fan, but Neal Schon is pretty damn awesome here and had a good chemistry with Hagar.

Maybe they lose points for their hair and wardrobe.

IMHO, WSOP is one of his best vocal performances ever. Right up there with Dreams & 5150. The band killed it on most all that album, but especially that tune.. Listen close and hear some of "Lights" in Neals opening to WSOP..

I wish Sam would give more attention to HSAS.

The semi - HSAS reunion, Planet US, was clearly not up to par. Neal & Sammy were not on their game. Those tracks that ended up on Cosmic were lame (Pysco vertigo & Peephole come to mind) and sounded like a band trying very hard to be current. Neal definetly went on to make a great Journey record. We got "Livin it up".. Ugh..

    More HSAS pahleeezz Sam!

HSAS is done except for some one offs at concerts, ie Sam joins Journey on stage, Schon oins Sam etc. No one outside of a Van Halen or Journey board has ever even heard about them.

I myself had totally forgotten about them until I joined here.
