Default "Tattoo" and "She's the Woman" from '00-'01 sessions

Thought this was interest enough for a new thread and didn't know where else to put it. Read this today from a Ray Luzier interview:

What do you think of Van Halen’s comeback album ‘A Different Kind 0f Truth’?

I didn’t like it at first, but now I love it. You look forward to that next record coming out from your favorite bands. It’s been a while since I’ve had the feeling of a new Van Halen record in my hand. But it’s funny to me, because when I was in (David Lee Roth’s) band he showed me four or five songs from the new record. ‘She’s The Woman,’ ‘Tattoo’ and all those songs I heard 10 years ago. It was a trip when I heard ‘Tattoo’ on the radio, because I remember hearing it at Dave’s house. I had a grin on my face when I heard these songs now.

    From: http://loudwire.com/korn-drummer-ray...alen-mca-more/

So we know 2 of the songs they did during those days. I still say "Honeybabysweetiedoll" has got to be one of them.

I'm so glad we got 2012 Dave instead of 2000 Doc Brown Dave.

Well Mike said in that candid interview he did in '06 that DLR was shooting for techno songs and in '02 he did "Flex" and "Scarecrow" which sound a little similar to "Honey."

Hard to believe the album came out a year ago. I really don't listen to it all that much because the songs are a bit busy and somewhat disjointed at times. Mostly I listen to You and Your Blues, Outta Space, She's the Woman, Big River and Stay Frosty.

    That's awesome!
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

In 2000 Dave secretly returned to Van Halen and recorded three new songs (these songs have not been released). Dave announced this on his website in April 2001 and said he hadn’t been in touch with the band since July 2000.

It’s A Name People Will Know”

July 23, 2000 – Last Friday (July 21) saw the launch of Yamaha’s new publication, Yamaha All Access. The magazine is aimed at highlighting the success of artists who use and endorse Yamaha musical products. The first issue of Yamaha All Access features an interview with Van Halen bassist, Michael Anthony. I haven’t been able to confirm when the interview with Mike took place.

Mike endorses his own Yamaha signature bass series. The electric bass will feature Mike’s trademark Chili Pepper fretmarker inlays on the neck. It is expected to be released this fall.

The following notable quotes from the interview relating to the current Van Halen situation have been reprinted below for your information.

Yamaha: “Who is your new singer?”

Michael Anthony: “I can’t tell you, we’re saving the announcement for the right time.”

    Yamaha: “Aw, cmon!”"

Michael Anthony: “All I can say is, it’s going to be huge. It’s a name people will know.”

The article also states that Van Halen will launch a world tour in 2001.

Read the full interview at yamaha.com

    2001.
On August 30 Dave called in to the morning show on 94 ROCK to promote his show that evening in Albuquerque, NM. To hear the interview, go to DLRArmy.com

Dave was asked “the gratuitous Van Halen question”. His response:

Oh I think it’s gonna be inevitable that there will be a reunion at some time, you know, as free hearted and wandering and libertine as I might be I think the Van Halen’s will have to succumb to some very, very strong overly super powers, namely the wives and kids. [laughter all round] Sooner or later one of those kids is gonna turn and go “what did you do in the war, Daddy?” I’ll look at him and go “your daddy used to be a very famous man”.

For a reunion recap, the current state of play is this:

Eddie Van Halen says: “I have no idea – I swear I really don’t know. I don’t know what goes on in other people’s realities, and I don’t try to figure it out. He knows where I live. It’s outta my hands.”

David Lee Roth says: “I think it’s gonna be inevitable that there will be a reunion at some time.”

Michael Anthony said in Feb 2001: “We’re getting ready to make some official announcements…”
“Early this year we’ll be letting people know what’s going on… Don’t forget us! We’re still here!”
When asked how soon the tour would be, Mike said: “Probably more like the fall, I imagine.”

David Lee Roth Addresses Van Halen Rumours
April 19, 2001 – The silence has ended!! David Lee Roth today confirmed that during 2000 he recorded new material with Van Halen. Here is the statement he released to the world via his web site earlier today:

Hey this is David Lee Roth and I promised you the news and here’s the news.

About a year ago myself and the great Van Halen band played together once or twice and it sounded amazing!

In the following several months Edward and I, Edward Van Halen and me, David Lee Roth, created some of the most amazing, phenomenal – the hands fell off the clock ladies and gentleman and we wrote three astonishing tunes.

That was last July and since then I haven’t been up to the studio, we haven’t really been in touch and we haven’t made any music, but I am holding forth, I’m in the shape of my life and I got the high note- I’m ready to go.

And I am positive for the future ladies and gentleman.

Stay tuned and I’ll tell you what the future brings, right here on DavidLeeRoth.com,

All I can say was the wait was definitely worth it. Hopefully, the wait for the next album or tour will be a LOT shorter.

I don't know, would have been interesting to see him with VH in 2001. He sounds pretty damn good at this point in 2001. I'd think this Dave with Michael on his right and Ed on his left, Al behind, would have been pretty DAMN impressive and energetic, approaching the old days......but......that was over a decade ago now.
