In your opinion which band(or song for that matter) came closest to replicating VH's style and sound?

My Vote: RATT

I can see both of those in a way, but really, I think White lion took it. Vito Bratta was a total eddie clone, but with his own notes to add too. Thats guitar player though, and not band as a whole. So I can see the above mentioned as a whole band making the nomination....thing is, ratt was a little dark, and extreme was a little..."odd"? Nobody has captured the bad boy, good fun party time atmosphere that WAS VH. Not in the same way anyways.

I always thought Poison took Dave's showmanship thing and ran with it to an extreme, but unfortunately, their muscianship wasn't up to the VH level.
They were a party rock n roll type band, regardless of whether you liked them or not. The were a continuation of what VH started.
If they could play anywhere near VH's level, I'd give them the definite nod.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -

There was a band from Texas called Lord Tracy that put out 1 album on MCA about 12/13 years ago. These guys were the most fun band I'd ever seen live and the guitar player and singer seemed to be HUGE classic VH fans...

Gee! I don't know? Every hair band from the 1980's made feeble attempts to cop Van Halen but IMO none of them even came close. Thankfully, most of 'em realized that tryin' to copy Eddie note for note and imitating DLR's smart alecky persona, does not make them a good band and almost all of 'em fell by the wayside. Thank god!

Man, lots of bands took after the VH "style" and look. White Lion, Ratt, and guys like Sabastian Bach.

I remember seeing the video for "Talk Dirty to Me" from Posion, thinking that they were trying to be like VH.

I'll go with Poison, but there were lots of bands trying to "cash in".........

From the Eddie guitar standpoint, I'd also have to say White Lion, Vito Bratta.

Mike Tramp (White Lion lead singer) is also a big DLR fan, and I saw him at a couple of Atomic Punks shows in May 1996 at FM Station in North Hollywood.

And, now, James Lomenzo, formerly White Lion's bass player, is in David Lee Roth's band.
