Default Time to move on from Chickenfoot

It seems like Sammy really wanted Chickenfoot to be his main band and more of a full time thing. That got shot to hell with the Chad's Chilli Pepper's album and 2 year tour, also probably the lack of sales.

At this point going back too the Wabos seems kind of lame. I know that Sammy said he wanted to to a tour consisting of his 40 years from Montrose on.

It's time for Sammy to move on and find a kick ass Guitarist and drummer who can commit full time and Play the Montrose, Solo and Van Halen music live. The Wabos can't and I dont think Joe wanted to play the VH stuff. Its sad to see Mike as an add on to the Wabos and the other half has run its course.

Sammy is not getting any younger and Chickenfoot should be his side project also.

    Sorry, I disagree.

The guys need to take a break between records and tours to keep it fresh... So, I'd say they'll likely get together in a few months to share ideas.

I do hope the next CF is a return to the first album; it was a fantastic cd by any metric

    I actually agree with him.

I would love for Sam and Mike to find a full time gig together. However, for all we know, this is how Sam wants it.

He has more money than he will ever be able to spend, a beautiful wife, a successful career, successful businesses, the man has everything. He might just want to enjoy that most of the year, and just head into the studio a few weeks here and there, and go on tour a few weeks here and there, just to keep the juices flowing.

The man is probably very content.

As a professional boxer once said about the perils of becoming rich as a boxer "it's hard to get up and go to the gym at 5:00am when you are sleeping on silk sheets".

Sam's music career is more than likely just how he wants it.

I'm glad I was never a rich and famous rock star with the nice houses, hot women, and fancy cars... They got lots of problems...

Van Halen take 13 years off.......and seem to be taking another extended break right now...no big deal.

Chickenfoot make two albums back to back and then take a year off and they should break up?

Totally agree............................AND the guy is going to be 66 this year. I'm surprised he's doing as much as he is.

    Default The Foot Will Return

There will be a brief break and hopefully Sammy and the Wabo's put out some music in 2013-14 and tour and then I see a big new album and tour with the Foot in 2015.

Not sure if Sam has anything left in his tank as far as the Wabos go. I just don't think they inspire him to write anything of substance anymore.

I'd personally like to see him do some some covers and throw them up on itunes. I have always wanted to hear his take on some classic rock and blue's tracks. I think old tunes like Heard It Thru The Grapevine and The House That Love Lives In, are right in his wheelhouse. Some of us long time fans would jump all over it.

I think Chickenfoot and the Wabos/Solo Joe/Chilis are all springboards off of each other. Each member inspires each other by the influences from their own projects.

I like your covers idea. However, Grapevine I think would be a great Foot tune in the vein of DTD. Imagine Joe tearing it up with Mikes' background vocals putting an interesting spin on the harmony and Chad tearing up the drums! Goosebumps!!

But I think '13 could be a good solo-rebuilding year for Sam. Perhaps a tour to all those little places that haven't seen him in a long time. Perhaps the birthday bash will either begin CF again or debut some new CF tunes... Only Sam and Co. know for sure...

Hmmm. He'll be back with CF - however there's no rush for Sam. He's launching his rhum biz.

I'm kind of thinking Sam is going to dabble a bit with country music this year...at least he hinted at that on his fan questions video he did before Christmas. I kind of doubt he will do a full country album but I wouldn't be suprised to see a few country type songs from him including a duet with one of his country buddies. But at the very least I bet we see a Sam solo album at some point this year.

For a guy Sammy's age this arrangement is ideal, he doesn't have to commit to anything, he can spend more time with his family and play when he wants. If I'm his age with that kind of money I would enjoy my time in the sun and play when I feel like it.

I don't see anything wrong about this. I know Sam is doing well at his age, you have to realize the guy is still almost 66 years old. Given his choice of putting a shit load of work into a project or just taking it day by day, it will be day by day.

We see the rock star image of the guy who is Sammy Hagar. Look at Jimmy Page. That is how Sammy is in reality. Gray hair in full bloom while looking like a grandfather.

We think of of these guys as their younger selves but in truth, some are closer to our parents. I am sure there are days when Sammy just wants to lay in the sun because it feels good on his joints.

If CF4 happens, great but I am not sure if things will work out for all four members. I hope it does because Mike needs something to do
