    Default Best Albums Of 2012

Van Halen - A Different Kind Of Truth
    Killing Joke - MMXII
    Rush - Clockwork Angels
    Led Zeppelin - Celebration Day
    Soundgarden - King Animal
    Brian Eno - Lux
    Prometheus - Movie Soundtrack
The Cult - Choice Of Weapon

    Biggest Disappointments:
    Bruce Springsteen - Wrecking Ball
Muse - The 2nd Law (despite "Madness" which I really liked)

I think I bought more cds this year then I have the last 2 or 3 years combined. A lot of bands I listen to, especially the old fuckers who've been around for decades put out solid releases in '12.

It sure has been a great year for the old school rock fans for sure. While not all of the albums were great...a year in which new albums by Van Halen, Rush, Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Heart, Slash, The Cult, KISS, Soundgarden, L.A. Guns plus two new song by the Stones and Zeppelin's live album sure gave the older rock fans something to sink their teeth into.
“You can wonder what Roth and Eddie Van Halen are doing in the same band. It’s hard to imagine two guys with less in common psychologically, yet together they seem to make a complete personality. Extrovert balanced by introvert, logic by intuition, entertainment balanced by artistry.” --Charles Young, Musician Magazine.

I would like to mention The Cars - Move Like This. Could have been released after Heartbeat City and would have fit right in.

Great disc in my humble opinion, if one likes the simple genius of The Cars.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

except that was released in May of 2011!

(that's okay, when Bin Laden's end was mentioned on "NCIS" as having come in 2011 I thought "no, that can't be"! Where does the time go?)

Joe Bonamassa' s new solo album, " Driving Towards The Daylight ", is also quite impressive. I just picked it up this week, as I found out that Brad Whitford played on it, and was curious to check it out.

I must confess, I'm very late to the party on this guy, as he is quite well known in Black Country Communion, but am glad to find a newer artist and band to enjoy, that I hadn't known about untill recently.

    My best of 2012

    1. ADKoT-Van Halen...still gets played regularly since its release

    2. Live at the Bowl '68 - The Doors...had never heard this show before, the Blue Ray of the show is equally outstanding.

    3. Celebration Day - Led Zeppelin...great to have an official release of this special show.

    4. Blunderbuss - Jack White

    But change is!"

    1. Epicloud - Devin Townsend Project: Arena-style rock with a gospel choir. Devin's most "commercial" sounding album to date. Just a ahuge, epic-sounding album. Nobody makes music like this guy. Or produces like this guy.

    2. Clockwork Angels - Rush: One of their best albums. Ever.

    3. 555% - Ginger Wildheart: Brilliant pop-rock from one of the world's most underated songwriters. This version was three discs, but the store version is just a single disc.

    4. ADKOT - Some band: Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Van Halen can still play.

    5. Everything is Changing - Anneke van Giersbergen: Who? Google her. One of the most beautiful voices in rock. Hell, in any genre.

    6. Koi No Yokan - Deftones: It's the Deftones.

    7. Albatross - Big Wreck: Amazing band with a great
    vocalist/guitarist/songwriter, Ian Thornley.

    8. Meshuggah - Koloss: Metal.

And that's all I can think of right now...

Really? I hated it. Thought it was their worst effort ever.

    Interesting

    Rush - Clockwork Angels
    Metric - Synthetica
Silversun Pickups - Neck of the Woods
    Soundgarden - King Animal
    Gaslight Anthem - Handwritten
Two Door Cinema Club - Beacon
Marillion - Sounds That Can't Be Made
Band of Skulls - Sweet Sour
    Van Halen - ADKOT
    Imagine Dragons - Night Visions

In that order. I took my 2012 albums very seriously. There's about 50 or so that are not on the above list. Some GOOD music heard above.
"I respect that youre passionate about this but what your saying is complete idiocy..." - MF5150 on McDonald's "preying" on young kids.

"He was born a human, he's a horse's ass by proxy." - It's Mike on Eddymon.

Amaryllis by Shinedown, I really like these guys.

I also got Apocolyptic Love by Slash and liked that right away as well.

ADKOT....I have not been the biggest fan in the world of this but it's a pretty good record.
