    Allright !!!!

And too think, they actually forgot to include it on the initial list, and added it on a couple days later, heh, heh, heh. I'd like to think it was my message that rectified the oversight.

That's different. This list was chosen by Guitar World's STAFF. You're refering to their 2012 Readers Poll, which is still open. Vote on that here. Perhaps they'll win that one too, despite getting a late start. I'll bet they will.

    Last paragraph's of the article.

"But if there's one thing to take away from the 50 albums below, it's this: The guitar is very much alive and well in 2012. It survived the rise of the keyboard in the '80s and the overwhelming bass-barrage of electronic dance music of the early 21st century and shows no signs of waning in relevancy. Whether you're still plugging into a vintage Vox AC30 with your trusty Strat or just got your hands on an Axe FX and a new Ibanez eight-string, the guitar isn't going away any time soon.

And with that in mind, the Quote of the Year award goes to one Eddie Van Halen, who summed all that up so succinctly when he said, "I'm just a guitarist in a kick-ass rock and roll band. What more could I ask for?" Amen, and see you in 2013."

Agree with most of the rankings - a least the one's I recognize. Periphery II?
Jeff Loomis? Had no clue. Gave them a spin, but not connecting with it much.
Municipal Waste? Um yeah, ok. Sure. I'll get back to you.

To that end, yeah, big surprise VH made the best record this year in my book.
At least in terms of a promise vs. delivery analysis. Plenty of other bands I like
that released new music this year that didn't overwhelm my expectations, even
though they all had far less to prove and live up to. In order of most impressive
    to least:

    Soundgarden
    Coheed & Cambria
    Muse
    Bloc Party
    Mars Volta
    Smashing Pumpkins
    The Darkness

Lots of folk here raved about Vai and especially Rush, but those didn't really
connect with me either, overall. Ditto ZZ Top, but good to see them back.
    Don't wanna talk about Aerosmith.
