Yeah, that part blew me away. Eddie did some song arrangement, too. That's cool.

It's so nice to see "this" Eddie getting recognition and on TV again rather than "that" Eddie we saw during the 2000's.

Is this the same reporter who did the CNN piece with Ed and Wolfgang? The voice over sounds familiar. She must have a thing for this guy : D

When all is said and done, that solo will probably be the piece of music that Eddie is most remembered for.

Not a bad way to be remembered. I fucking love that solo...

I honestly doubt it. Among rock fans and guitar players sure, but among the entire world, the "Beat It" solo has been heard by waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more people...

While "Beat It" has undoubtedly been heard by more people worldwide than any other Van Halen song I would venture to bet that "Jump" could give it a good run for its money. Especially since more people probably associate "Jump" with Eddie than "Beat It" because I would think there are lots of listeners who still don't definitively recognize the solo in "Beat It" as Eddie because they simply listen to music and don't pay attention to the minutia of the players involved.

Agreed. To hardcore fans like us, it's obvious that it is Ed, but to the unwashed masses it's just some guy playing a guitar solo on a pop record.

I took a couple of friends to the show here in May and I was really surprised that they didn't know some of VH's more popular songs. They knew Van Halen of course and "Panama" and "Jump" they knew were VH, but they had heard tunes like "Unchained" and "Beautiful Girls" on the radio and didn't really know that they were VH too. I guess I just have to face it that most people aren't as passionate about the might VH (or music in general) as I am and accept that what is common knowledge to me is a surprising bit of news to others.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.
