Default Frankenstein and/or Kramer 5150 wiring?

I just got a 5150 clone from eBay, and after a weekend spent pulling it apart, leveling the frets, shimming the neck, remounting the Duncan CC pickup, setting the Floyd, then putting it all back together again, I'm really happy with the way it sounds and plays. I've got a question, though:

On the Frankie and/or 5150, did EVH have a cap on the volume pot to roll off low end and retain clarity when it's turned down? It's the norm on Telecasters, and my Charvel So Cal had one as standard. The Custom Custom pup cleans up nicely when it's wound back, and I've adjusted the polepieces so it doesn't sound a million miles away from the Frankenstein humbucker in my Charvel, but I keep wondering if it could do with losing some of the lows and lower mids. If he did have a cap on the volume pot, does anyone know what value?

    Thanks in advance.

I don't think there was a cap. Most agree, though there are some that have all kinds of ideas. But I think the general consensus is that the pickup was wired straight to the volume as Eddie has always said for all his guitars.

i need to dig it out, but through my years of collecting evh memorabilia, i have a letter of authenticity for a sold back-up 5150 guitar. in it, it describes the guitar's features, and stated that there was a capacitor in the wiring cavity. ive always suspected that he used one. most people i know (including myself) use one. its a simple, extremely cheap feature to get better tone out of your guitar. ill see if i can track it down. boxed away somewhere..

The Frankenstrat does not have a treble bleed capacitor, and most likely never did.

Using a capacitor on a 500k pot, on an already bright guitar, coupled with a hot pickup is a bit of an overkill. There shouldn't be that much of a treble loss when rolling down the volume with a 500k.

A treble bleed capacitor should be small, around .001. A tone capacitor is usually a .022 for single coils and 250k's and .047 for humbuckers and 500k's. Large capacitors retain warmer bass frequencies while small capacitors cut the lows and retain the highs.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. Now that I've lived with the guitar for a couple of weeks, I'm happy to let it be without the cap.
