If you lived in PA at that time, I take it you saw them at the Spectrum? I was at the same show, we went to see Sabbath actually. Used to always bash the opening bands, but in this case you just knew they were headed for the big time. In retrospect I wish I would have absorbed those early VH shows a little more, but it was a drunken party, both on the stage and off. We "always knew" they would be back next year.

I recall grabbing my guitar after getting home and trying to approximate the end to Eruption, since even from our crappy nosebleed seats across the arena I could kind of see what he was doing. No go, sounded nothing like what he was doing, and there was no youtube to look it up. Back when magic was magic. Just from listening to the album we had absolutely *no idea* how he got that sound, actually thought at first it was done with a synthesizer. Turns out I just wasn't doing the pull-off part of the two handed hammer-ons / pull-offs, I was just basically pressing down on the string instead of flicking it sideways a little to sustain the note. I remember cranking up the gain on a Big Muff Pi pedal so I could try and cheat my way through it, but it still sounded nothing like Ed.

I can just picture it in my head Dave and Ozzy doing lines of coke all night long. That scene had to have been funny and scary as hell all in one. I wonder what kind of conversations those two crazy bastards would have while being coked out of their mind.

Bad Move, and Totally uncenssary, imo, that is, touring with BS, as the boys could have easily headlined on that 1st tour, and did not need to share the billing with BS, excepting maybe for overseas dates, where BS and Metal get religious devotion by their European fan-boys. VH said they saw very few 'girls' in the their European audiences, for that tour.

Thet added a second show for the VH/BS tour in 1978, and ALL of that was due to VH, and not to BS. A few years later VH is doing 2 shows at Reunion and BS does 1 show back at Memorial Auditorium (DCCCA).

LOL!! I can't go back and edit the pic out. If one of the mods can that would be cool. Thanks!
