Default GUITAR WORLD MAG snubs ADKOT?

ADKOT has been snubbed by GUITAR WORLD magazine in the "best rock album of 2012" category.

The 2012 Readers Poll is fresh on their website this morning.

    http://www.guitarworld.com/guitar-wo...2-readers-poll

Kinda strange... I thought they were tight...

That is strange. I mean, it's a reader's poll but still it seems like the available options are limited by the magazine itself. Van Halen is in several other categories including Comeback of the Year but the actual album isn't an option. Very surprising indeed.

I also can't really understand Rush in the "Comeback" category. They've been on a popularity high for several years now and have been incredibly active for a decade. I realize that the implication is simply "this is the best album they've made in a long time" but that's not really what a comeback is to me. A band that's reunited with old members or that hadn't released any album in ages (like VH) or that had some sort of tragedy and then returned like Rush did in the late 90s would be a comeback in my mind.

Oh no, another GW poll. Hehe

They have things listed there that aren't out quite yet.
I'm too biased to say. Adkot is my fave but I'm sure there's a ton of great albums that should be listed that aren't. I like KISS but its pretty much a joke they have Monster listed over Adkot or at all. Lol it's ok it's not near that level IMO.

    LOL...

    ----
    These are their
    5 Top
    guitar rock records nominated:

    Rush — 'Clockwork Angels'
    Soundgarden — 'King Animal'
    ZZ Top — 'La Futura'
    Kiss — 'Monster'
Neil Young & Crazy Horse — 'Psychedelic Pill'

I wonder what each of these records have SOLD worldwide?

Isn't ADKOT in the TOP 5 worldwide sales for ROCK in 2012?

It might just be a mistake by some junior staffer at GW's head office.

I'm not about to act like some rabid fanboy, but I do think it's ridiculous to have Monster on there and not ADKOT. I don't think King Animal is even out yet, although from what I've heard it deserves to be on there.

is it me or does guitar world remind you guys of some kind of "metal edge" pop magazine now?.....seems its been dumbed down alot.

i have old issues from the 80s all the way up to 2007 and it seems to dumb down more and more.

i always liked 'guitar for the practicing musician' myself.

That's exactly what I thought. "Kiss' Monster nominated over Van Halen's A Different Kind of Truth for Best Rock Album? Wha'? Huh? " Especially while placing =VH= in the Comeback of the Year category in the same poll. It makes no sense.

You know I think Kiss' Monster is rather good actually. Not better than AKOT, but more deserving of list than Aerosmith's new dud. I chose La Futura from the list given.

Yes GFTPM was the bomb however I am sure some classic rocker probably viewed that as Hit Parader with all the hair bands.

That said it was a more intelligent magazine. I also liked when it became Guitar One.

Back on subject but ADKOT should be in the poll if it contains works from your recently voted Greatest Guitarist Ever
