Default Sammy Hagar Buyers guide in latest "Classic Rock"...

In the latest "Classic Rock" issue 177, Sammy is finally honored in the buyers guide. I've been waiting for this since "Classic rock" first started in 2000. (I get every issue). Its reviewed by Jerry Ewing, and hes pretty concise, although i'd change a couple of albums here and there.
my only gripe is that he says Sammys 67!!??, and he says "5150" came out in 1985, and that "ou812" was released in 1987.
    Heres his list -
    Essential - Montrose - Montrose
    Van Halen - 5150
    Superior - Solo - Loud n clear
    Solo - Standing hampton
Van Halen - For unlawful carnal knowledge
    Solo - Marching to mars
Good - Solo - The Red album
    Wabos - Not 4 sale
    Chickenfoot - Chickenfoot III

    Avoid - H.S.A.S - Through the fire

Mine is simillar, but i'd replace "Marching to mars" with "V.O.A" in superior section.
I'd drop "Not 4 sale" and 'Chickenfoot III" in good section and put in "Marching to mars" and "Ten13".
Avoid - would be "Livin' it up" (his worst in his catalogue).
What is understood need not be discussed

"Dont disturb my paradise. I've asked you once. I've asked you nice" - "SERIOUS JU JU"

"I am in a blissful state. Dont bug me!!!" - Richard Dreyfuss "The Goodbye girl" 1977

Whiter Shade of Pale alone is worth buying that album.

I don't like every track on HSAS, but it is one of my favourite albums and whiter shade of pale is a storming version, it's one of the few times I prefer a cover to an original without even bringing into it the bias factor of being a Sam fan.

OK, HSAS has the best Neal Schon performances of any record.
His solos are better than on Journey records. For that alone, it's worth owning this record.
Then you have Michael Schrieve on drums. The guy who did the best drum solo at Woodstock in 1969.
Just listen to "Animation - Valley of the Kinds - Giza." Amazing stuff. The chemistry between Neal and Sammy is really great.

I like Three Lock Box. Every Hagar album has one or two things I like, but TLB is solid top to bottom. It is not a hard rock album by any means, but I think the songwriting is solid.

Hagar sounds bad on Whiter Shade of Pale, just not a good song for his voice. The whole album is just weird, but I'd get that album cover tattoed on my arm before I recommend anyone listen to Livin' It Up. A colossal piece of shit is the best I can do to describe it.

Funny you mention Schrieve, because in Sam's book, I got the impression Sam didn't think Schrieve was a good fit because of his jazz-influenced style.
If it's BROWN, flush it DOWN.

    GO STEELERS!
