    I'll be skipping that.

I couldn't name one song by her.

    I know, makes me old.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Even if Van Halen was seriously considered for the Super Bowl...it's highly doubtful Ed with his Diverticulitis recovery could have performed then. That recovery is quite serious and it takes alot out of you physically.

Looks like its back to the "MTV Generation" acts playing the halftime show ala nipplegate. Bad choice as an act IMO. How often is Beyonce's music played at NFL games to get the crowd motivated?

Time to tune in to the puppybowl on Animel Planet.

There was a silver lining then. I still can't believe you guys are so into having them play that joke of a show. Keep VH far away from that. It's a freaking circus act, and all people do is rip the acts to shreds because the shows are so choreographed and phony. Why would you want VH subjected to that crap?

Because some are under the impression that performing at the SB would somehow validate them and demonstrate that they've "arrived". I say NO THANKS for the reasons you stated.

I totally agree, Brett. The Superbowl halftime show is LAME! We'd be hearing the old fart jokes, Dave can't sing comments, Dave is a joke/acts like a retard comments, and "Who is that kid on stage?" comments from the media and at Superbowl parties. Also, they are only going to play songs we've heard a billion times--most likely You Really Got Me, Panama, and Jump. You need your head examined if you think they are going to pull out some deep cut from Fair Warning. Why do people give a shit about this?

Thats my impression (of their impressions) too - but they "arrived" over 30 years ago... Let the Springsteens of the world be the "serious artists" who play that thing. VH should stay as far away from that as possible.

If Van Halen was going to do the Super Bowl...this past January would have been the better time for it, right before ADKOT was released. This coming Super Bowl wouldn't have helped sales for ADKOT all that much since it has been out for months and they are completely done with promotion for it anyway (what little they did). But even that might not been too big of a deal since Madonna's new album tanked and she was the Super Bowl act. All it would have done this year was maybe moved 50,000 more units of the Greatest Hits album Best of Both Worlds and that would be it. Not worth all the ridicule the band would have got from the entertainment and music media just to sell a few more copies of the Greatest Hits album.
“You can wonder what Roth and Eddie Van Halen are doing in the same band. It’s hard to imagine two guys with less in common psychologically, yet together they seem to make a complete personality. Extrovert balanced by introvert, logic by intuition, entertainment balanced by artistry.” --Charles Young, Musician Magazine.

Personally I love VH, love football, and usually watch and enjoy the Super Bowl.

The idea of VH playing @ halftime is a win win to me as a fan. I don't wish it to validate or prove shit. I also don't want them to avoid it out of a protective feeling that people will trash them. I dig the idea on selfish entertainment level.

VH playing the SB has been a running joke on here for a few years now anyway.
Usually very little evidence if any fueling the fan speculation. I guess this year wasn't very different in that regard despite the rumor and DLR statement.

I was very disappointed to hear about the SB's halftime show. Not a bouncy fan by any stretch. Had hoped for a halfway decent act but I guess the halftime show will be breaktime to refill my beverages and snacks. It could be worse I suppose......

    Oh well.

I'm almost glad they didn't get it simply because of Dave's singing now. I didn't want to hear everyone trashing them because Dave can't bring it live anymore. Mainly because anyone who did it would be correct.

Only way they could pull it off and not have these issues is by sticking to only the songs that Dave's voice can easily pull off live these days, and by Dave really concentrating on singing them properly...forget all that fake high voice crap. Sing Unchained, Panama, ATBL, Jump, and one new song. He could do maybe She's the Woman okay.

That might go over fairly well. And it'd be a good reminder to everyone that heard EVH on top of his game who the master still is.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -
