They must be looking at cost of living. I've been to all the towns. Tulsa and Cleveland are "less than desirable." Waterloo/Cedar Falls ain't exactly Shangri-la, but I'd take it over Cleveland or Tulsa any day.

I dunno about cost of living - San Francisco is expensive as shit!

O-town doesn't even make the list (not sure that it should) but Cleveland and Baltimore do?

It's some sort of silly combined score that is probably more complex than "passer rating" or "W.A.R".....cost of living is included but given equal weight with air quality, culture, food, education levels etc....

If it was slanted at all toward cost of living.....San Francisco would be closer to the bottom than top.....

    You're about dead on...

For the ranking, Businessweek.com once again teamed up with Bloomberg Rankings to evaluate data on 100 of the country’s largest cities. We looked at leisure attributes (the number of restaurants, bars, libraries, museums, professional sports teams, and park acres by population), educational attributes (public school performance, the number of colleges, and rate of graduate-degree holders), economic factors (income and unemployment), crime, and air quality. Major professional league and minor league teams, as well as U.S.-based teams belonging to international leagues in each city were included. This year we placed greater emphasis on leisure amenities than we did last year. The figures come from data company Onboard Informatics and the nonprofit Trust for Public Land. As the methodology was altered, changes in a city’s ranking from 2011 do not suggest that it has gotten “better” or “worse.”

Only 1 city listed in all of New England.
I didn't read the criteria so size may have eliminated a lot of NE.

So your a proponent of the "size does matter" argument then?

St. Louis is only 47th on the list....hmmm.

I guess if you ONLY include the city proper, then yeah, I guess I can see that. However, if there weren't a 100 year old dispute that separated the city and the county, it would probably be much higher on the list. St. Louis City is practically a ghost town on the weekends (unless you are at a bar or a sporting event). It only has a population of about 350,000. If you include St. Louis County like it would be in every other city, the population skyrockets to over 2 million and the crime rate falls to near the bottom of major population centers.

Oh well, at least we still have the St. Louis Cardinals who draw 3 million fans every year. To give some perspective on this, if LA wanted to have the same support for the Dodgers per capita, they would need to draw 20 million.

So we got that going for us
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

I have been to some of those cities, and they are shitholes.

What the hell is the criteria?
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!
