Default What 5 VH and VH related albums do you play the most?

In other words, its kind of like your top 5 albums from VH or from Dave or Sammys solo career, including Chickenfoot, even Extreme (It counts).
Its damn hard to do, so I thought about the albums i play the most and this is what i've come up with....

5150 - Badly needs a proper remaster release, but still kicks butt to this very day. "Summer nights" still the best party song!!! and "5150" is my all time fave VH song.

F.U.C.K - The more I listen too it over the years, the more i wish they made a simillar follow-up in '93 instead of the live album. Great years!!!

Van Halen - Just great party music, and gets me in a good mood. "On fire" never ceases to amaze.

V.O.A - Great production all around. Sammys best album in my opinion. "Swept away" one of his very best. "Burnin' down the city" rocks!!!

Montrose - One of the best debuts album. Ronnie was a fantastic player.
What is understood need not be discussed

"Dont disturb my paradise. I've asked you once. I've asked you nice" - "SERIOUS JU JU"

"I am in a blissful state. Dont bug me!!!" - Richard Dreyfuss "The Goodbye girl" 1977

That's all I got. Roth's and Hagar's solo albums are garbage to my ears anymore and I'm bored to tears with the entire VH catalog sans ADKOT.

Tribe Of Judah has it's moments, but I'm starting to realize that VH and it's alumni really are not what it's all about after all.

    lol!

The five I play the most at the moment...

1.) "A Different Kind of Truth" -- IMO, it's the Van Halen album that reveals the most depth and diversity on repeat listens -- and that's saying something!! In '12, "ADKoT" has the current sad state of rock, the animosity of some Hagar-era-only fans, and a reactionary fan-base going against it... History will just hear the songs, and the album's stature will grow.

"A Different Kind of Track Order:" 1. As Is; 2. The Trouble With Never; 3. Bullethead; 4. Blood And Fire; 5. China Town; 6. Honeybabysweetiedoll; 7. Tattoo; 8. She's The Woman; 9. Outta Space; 10. You And Your Blues; 11. Big River; 12. Beats Workin'; 13. Stay Frosty

2.) "Fair Warning" -- Like "ADKoT," "Fair Warning" grew on me because there's so much going on in these songs -- all kinds of weird musical/lyrical tension, and dissonance. It's Michael Anthony's best album; David Lee Roth's best album (until "ADKoT;") and Eddie Van Halen's best album -- and on top of that, it's weird (in the best way.)

No band since The Beatles did "weird" with more style.

3.) "Women And Children First" This album shows more growth, diversity, and genius than it gets credit for -- and in about the time it takes for Domino's to get to your house.

It's heavier than "Van Halen" and "II," and it's also more diverse -- from the bluesy "Fools" to the Zeppelin-on-even-more-cocaine whirlwind of "In A Simple Rhyme," to the -- what other band would throw in "Could This Be Magic?" Is there even another rock band that could make this song listenable..?

"WaCF" contains every characteristic I enjoy about Van Halen -- and it proves that the greatest backyard party band of all-time is, in itself, more about chemistry than it is about any one member.

4.) "1984" There's not a bad song on the album. The 6 non-synth rock songs are all among the band's -- and the genre's -- best of all-time. "Panama," "Drop Dead Legs," "Hot For Teacher," and "Girl Gone Bad," IMO, epitomize what Van Halen was aiming for -- and the other songs show mastery of diverse styles. The band can do anything. Literally anything.

For an album that's considered a classic by most rock fans, it's under-rated at this point.

5.) (TIE) Van Halen, "5150" - From the first chords of "Good Enough," it's obviously the same band that played on "1984." That said, in relation to early Van Halen, this sounds as cathartic as George Harrison's first post-Beatles album, "All Things Must Pass." Like that album, there are songs on here that are so good, you almost forget the old band. Tracks 1-8 are full of inspiration. That said, Van Halen's not funny anymore, and it's not funky anymore... And it wouldn't sound this consistently inspired again for 26 years.

5.) (TIE) David Lee Roth, "Eat 'em And Smile" - The 6 original compositions and "Shyboy" are alternately laugh-outloud funny, funky, and heavy... "Yankee Rose" and "Goin' Crazy" are two of the best rock singles of the '80s - and the gonzo stuff like "Elephant Gun" is balanced by strutting funk like "Big Trouble" and "Ladies night In Buffalo?" And he wouldn't sound this consistently inspired again for 26 years. (One of the best album covers of all-time, too.)

The other VH-related albums I listen to regularly are the first two, "Diver Down," "F.U.C.K." "Marching to Mars," "Skyscraper," "Ten 13," "Red Voodoo," "Not For Sale," "DLR Band," and portions of other albums, e.g. "Standing Hampton," "Your Filthy Little Mouth," etc.

I'm surprised to see "Balance" on as many lists as I have... It's one of the albums I like portions of. The only Van Halen album I really can't get into is "Van Halen III."
