Default If you could bring a dead rock star back to life

If you could bring a dead rock star back to life for one gig, who would it be?

John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis, Kurt Cobain, Buddy Holly, Freddie Mercury? Or someone else?

Tempting to go Hendrix, just to see what else he might have done.

But I'm gonna go Randy Rhoads as, unlike Hendrix, he may not have even
reached his full potential, only had two real records and neither with his own
band. I guess you could say Quiet Riot was his own band, but that was so early
in his development it's hard to qualify in terms of said potential. I think he, and we, really got robbed.

We could use a guitar hero like him now.

Also tempting to go Bonham, but the rest of Zep is so far removed from that now.

Easy, John Lennon. And if he could bring George Harrison back as a package deal that would be tits.

    yeah, that's a tough one -

you bring back Lennon, you're still missing Harrison
you bring back Moon, you're still missing Entwistle
you bring back Carl Wilson, you're still missing Dennis Wilson
you bring back Van Zant, you're still missing, well, just about everyone else

E-roc's rationale for Bonham is good, though maybe they could pull it together for a tour if they knew that all four were available

but there are so many people now to choose from - Hendrix, ELVIS, Bon Scott, Richard Wright (though there's a better chance of getting Zeppelin together if all hands are available than there is of Pink Floyd), Freddy Mercury, Benjamin Orr, Joe Strummer, Brad Delp, Steve Clark, Michael Hutchence, and probably others that I'm not even thinking of

There's quite a few I didn't want to see go but if I had to pick only one....I'd have a bitch of a time between SRV and Bonzo.

    Pretty much my exact thoughts.

Quiet Riot may have been his own band and it was early on but he was also limited with the talents of the others in QR and Dubrow's style. In most bands the songs written are a collaboration even if it boils down to the guitarist creating most of the music and the vocalist creating the vocal melodies and lyrics. I doubt a tune approaching Revelation Mother Earth or Diary would have seen the light of day with QR. Also with Ozzy he was still a developing young player starting to spread his wings but it was still a very controlled environment as he was backing Ozzy. We never saw how high Randy could fly with his gifts, talents, and creativity.

    Jimi Hendrix or John Coltrane.

Yes, I know that Coltrane wasn't a rock star, but, well, he was really, wasn't he?

    Imagine this:

    (Late night chat show host)

"So, thanks to advances in time travel technology, as promised, here they are. From 1968, Jimi Hendrix and from 1960, John Coltrane, jamming on a tune called "Voodoo Supreme". Ladies and gentlemen, cover your ears."
A man could lose himself in a country like this.
