I agree with some of the choices, but I laughed out loud at some others. And I definitely don't agree with their rankings, either. What the crap are There Will Be Blood and Terminator II doing so high on the list???

AND WHAT THE HELL IS UNBREAKABLE DOING ON THIS LIST AT ALL????????????????????

Maybe because they're great films. The site is cool, but sometimes it takes a while to get movies to even show up to rank. There are others like Platoon that simply haven't made it up on the list yet.

What is your problem with There Will Be Blood and T2? I grew up with T2 and it's a childhood favorite.

Daniel Plainview is in a lot of ways the type of guy that a lot of Americans inspire to be. He works hard and is extremely driven like most of republicans talk about as what makes for a great successful man. But Plainview is character that shows you what happens when drive and success becomes so excessive that they lose a grip on humanity. Watching the rise and downfall of such a character is interesting to me. And that's what There Will Be Blood is... A character study. A study of excessive capitalism.

Plus, Lewis gives one of the best performances and ever and the cinematography is great. It's obvious Paul Thomas Anderson was inspired by Stanley Kubrick.

It's QT's most mature work. It has a great cast and some quirky characters. De Niro gives one of his better performances. It's actually a bit different than the type of performance that he and Pacino usually give. I love the mature relationship that Cherry and Jackie build. The soundtrack is great as always. It's a slow burning film. It's one of the few QT movies that's not just out to look cool. Which is pretty much all Pulp Fiction sets out to do. The movie is hampered by the boxing story. It's a great film when John, Sam and Harvey are on screen. It losses punch with Bruce Willis. And the pawn shop scene...ugh.

What is shit is your one or two line posts. THAT is shit.

The godfather movies don't hit me quite the same as they do some other folks. I don't decide what is the best based on a consensus. But what strikes me personally.

That list is missing two of my top ten favorites.

Once Upon A Time In America. 1983

    Scarface 1983

It was good that they included, Sling Blade, Barton Fink, and American Psycho ( 2000 ), but think they overlooked a lot of great movies by Al Pacino.

Really, there is no such thing as a "best" list.

It's more of a favorites list. Most people have movies that they love just a bit extra because they grew up with them, or because they can relate to the characters because they had similar life experiences or whatever. Such things like that.

Lassy says: How can T2 be one of your top films? It's one of the best action movies ever made... It had a huge effect on me when I saw it at 10 years old. It was a whole difference experience than previous action movies like Dirty Harry, Commando, 48hrs, Beverly Hills Cop and other such action movies that I loved as a kid. The movie left that impression that stays with me to this day. So that can boost it ahead of something like The Godfather. A film that I recognize as great, but I didn't grow up with it.

I didn't get into the Star Wars saga as kid either. As a kid it was mostly horror and action for me. Star Wars was a stupid space movie to me as a kid. Just didn't get into it and that probably makes a difference now. Now I don't feel the same way about those films that other people do.

Forgive them Vader, for they know not what they do.
