Default Daniel Day Lewis as President Lincoln.

I don't know if there is anyone else more fitting for the part. Great support cast also. This could be Spielberg's best movie in years. Hopefully it is. And I say that as someone who liked Tintin and War Horse.

    Fascinating man.

He gives the term "never give up" new meaning. I have this in my office.

    It says:

"He failed in business in '31. He was defeated for state legislator in '32.He tried another business in '33. It failed. His fiancee died in '35. He had a nervous breakdown in '36. In '43 he ran for congress and was defeated. He tried again in '48 and was defeated again. He tried running for the Senate in '55. He lost. The next year he ran for Vice President and lost. In '59 he ran for the Senate again and was defeated. In 1860, the man who signed his name A. Lincoln, was elected the 16th President of the United States. The difference between history's boldest accomplishments and its most staggering failures is often, simply, the diligent will to persevere."

I read a biography on him simple titled Lincoln, a very old book (and BIG) that my parents had lying around, had a huge impact on me growing up. Still does.

Great man, and a truly enlightened thinker for his time.

Not saying he didn't have his faults, we all do, but still, an incredible man.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

I was traveling in downtown Charlotte NC on the main drag a few years back. As I walked I notice a plaque on the sidewalk. It read....This is the spot that Jefferson Davis heard the news that Abraham Lincoln was assassinated.

Only peripherally about Lincolns assassination, but the Conspirator is a good movie along this timeline

Daniel Day-Lewis is the best actor of our time, by far. I predict after this no one else will dare play Lincoln, this is going to be the definitive interpretation of the role.

I was excited about this movie when Neeson was attached. But when Day-Lewis became attached, I was ecstatic.

    Me too.

I consider myself a Lincoln buff, he was just an absolutely incredible man.

I think Daniel Day Lewis will do him justice.

I am glad that he ditched the traditional Lincoln voice since Lincoln had a high pitched voice in real life. Not sure who decided he was a baritone.

Daniel Day Lewis is probably my favorite actor so I am definitely seeing this

Although I think this will be great, I have one complaint already. I went on IMDB to check the cast list and found that nobody is listed as playing Frederick Douglass. HOW THE HELL CAN YOU MAKE A MOVIE ABOUT LINCOLN AND NOT HAVE FREDERICK DOUGLASS IN IT?

If anyone has any info on this please post.

    That doesn't make any sense.

Not sure how you can either.

However, it may depend on the timeframe of the movie as well, as I don't think they personally met until summer of 1863, which would mean that Lincoln personally knew him for less than two years at the time of his death.
