Default DRUDGE: Obama Thinks Romney Wants VP David Petraeus

UPDATE: Drudge's exclusive says that President Barack Obama believes Mitt Romney wants to tab David Petraeus as his running mate. From Drudge:

President Obama whispered to a top fundraiser this week that he believes GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney wants to name Gen. David Petraeus to the VP slot!

"The president wasn't joking," the insider explains to the DRUDGE REPORT.

A Petraeus drama has been quietly building behind the scenes.

Romney is believed to have secretly met with the four-star general in New Hampshire.

Great, time for Hillary and Pelosi to bring out the "General Betrayus" lines again.

No way. Romney doesn't want this election hinged on foreign policy. Obama's foreign policy has been mostly successful, so he'd be way smarter to pick a VP candidate with some degree of experience in the economic area.

Then again, Romney is so spineless that if he's in front of a group of NRA members, he'd probably throw Ted Nugent on the ticket just to make them happy!

At the end of the day, however, it truly doesn't matter one bit who he picks. Once the hubbub of the pick dies down, no one really thinks about the VP pick again.

    It makes no difference whatsoever...

P.S. Thanks for finally letting us know where you get your post ideas from. I had the feeling VH Links was turning into Drudge, Part II. You just verified it for me.

I disagree. Making a bad choice can be detrimental. Many people think that the VP choice is the first opportunity you get in seeing the decision making process of a potential President.

Palin killed any chance McCain had, especially after it was revealed how little work they put into the selection.

It's a fair point, although I think McCain had no chance regardless of who he picked. Choosing Palin was just the last nail in the coffin.

During a recent interview with the Broward-Palm Beach New Times, outspoken conservative rocker Ted Nugent was asked the question: "If [Republican presidential candidate Mitt] Romney were a rock band, what band would that be? [And how about President Barack] Obama?"

"Out and out politicians are anathema to rock and roll, so I hesitate to attempt to connect the two," Nugent replied. "But on important issues, I am saddened to admit that Obama represents everything bad about humanity and Romney pretty much all that is good. It is really that stark."

Asked about his involvement with Knife Rights — the organization which is dedicated to providing knife and edged tool owners an effective voice to influence public policy and to oppose efforts to restrict the right to own, use and carry knives and edged tools — Nugent said, "The right to self-defense is secondary to the pure righteous instinct to self-defense. Historically, monster freedom crushing tyrants, kings, emperors, despots, and evil slavedrivers denied mankind of such basic God-given rights, and this sacred experiment in self-government is based on refusing to give any of them up ever again."

He continued, "I saw the curse of apathy metastasize across this great country and the horrific attempt of evil politicians to infringe on these sacred rights through this increasingly opening door. I decided early on that we the people have a moral bound duty to remain engaged and halt those daring to infringe.

"Freedom is not free and due diligence and vigilance is the only way to safeguard it. If a man is forced to be unarmed and helpless, you are at the mercy of evil, and that simply does not compute to conscientious, thinking people, so we stand and fight."

You sure Ted said that? Seems very coherent and well thought out. Usually he just rants.

    Really? This:

"...I am saddened to admit that Obama represents everything bad about humanity and Romney pretty much all that is good. It is really that stark."

Seems "very coherent and well thought out" to you?
